Default More than likely buying a VZ ute

It is what I've wanted since they come out. Have been thinking about spending the extra 10 or so k on a VE (SV6; P plates damn). But I am pretty much set on the VZ.

It's not really for work purposes, would just get used on the odd occasion (I'm an Electrician, so just drive the work van). Which means I'm thinking of suspension etc as I can lower it to basically anything I want (legally of course), without worrying about the weight in the tray (as there isn't going to be much).

I haven't really looked into the VZ much to be honest, like I know its got the foggies, ABS etc. But I just want it. I'm a P Plater, and trust me can't hoon anymore so I don't lol, but I want power and without a charger of any sought... unfortunately. So in general, I suppose I'm asking your thoughts about what I should do to it.

I have already considered Roller Rockers, Extractors, Induction and like the real basic stuff. Bit of a bigger cam, port the heads and all. I also wouldn't mind so rumble from the rear end, but being a 6, and also as it's an Alloytec, they tend to sound.. well.. bloody terrible with a cat back. So yeah.. What else could I do?

    Cheers.

i'm pretty sure you can't get roller rockers for the alloytec, cam wise you'll need 4 of the buggers.
If your looking at doing those mods, you're really better off going for a vy s ute with the ecotec.
The alloytec is a good motor but can be a real pain in the ass and costly to work on.

Oh. Forgive my ignorance lol. I thought the alloytec still operated with a similar valve system. Money really isn't much an issue over time. Which is also why i'm still thinking of getting a ve lol

i personaly would wait for a ve, the fly by wire is much better config'd, but you'd still face the same issues with working on them if not more.
The stereo is much harder to play with over the vz's to

The VZ S pack is a beautiful car. I drive a manual VZ ute and it has never failed to impress me. All I've done to it is the 2 hole mod, K&N air filter, and a 2.5in catback system (trust me, if it's done right, it sounds like magic). The power is still up to scratch with the VE, but the VZ just feels like a better package all round. I mean, you get fog lights, electric seats, auto headlights, cruize control and a LSD. You'd be nuts to buy a VE when the VZ is just as much car.

The Alloytec is an awesome engine and even though the VZ utes only have the 175, its a lighter car than the bulky VE. The gearbox is one of the best I've come across, I drive heaps of manuals for work, and nothing is easier to handle than the one in the VZ, it's just so easy to rev match and fast climb. With the exhaust, its so easy to play with the sound, it makes a crackle when changing gears upwards, and burbles like crazy on down shifts. It honestly sounds good when coupled to a manual box. Its just the autos that make it sound like a fart in a bathtub.

if you do get a vz, get one of the last of them. Holden put the sv6 badge on them with the ho 190 motor

the alloytecloves boost for when you get off the P plates haha but if your leaning towards a VE they come with the SIDI engine making "210kw" from factory so probably wouldn't need much to get going, but some nice big wheels, dumped and a few other cosmetic enhancements would make for a beautiful ute

Id say go the vz! i just brought one about a month ago... i got my hands on a limited edition svz! they are so nice! i waited out till i got onee... full leather, cv8 rims, 6speed manual, lsd, foggies all you want its there.. also the alloytec 190 which shits all over the 175 i drove both and i feel inlove with the 190.. im pretty much in the same position as you.. i am an apprentice electrician and im on p plate. and ive lost my licence for a month so now im stuck on p plates for an extra 6 months **** i hate cops . dont have to carry anything more than hand tools. since ive got it, ive slapped it on super lows in the front and ultra lows in the ass. (got pulled over sunday and im still above legal height and it looks hot!) i also slapped on the xforce twin 2.5'' exhaust on saturday and it sounds amazing so happy with it. it perrrss.

i gotta say my ute is a lady puller. seeing as its purple and they love the leather.. i always get asked for rides and shit its pretty funny the girls of melbournee! ahahah lol my misses dont like it too much..

back to the point. defiantly got the vz especially they look a hell of alot nicer than the ve's and they are awsome cars to drive.

ill end it there coz ive crapped on enough now.
