Hey guys just after some instructions on how to paint your engine plastics ?? and any tips ...
also what other plastics would u paint in the engine bay ?
I did the lettering on my VY Ecotec motor cover with some left over red Engine enamel, to withstand the heat. I prepped it all really well with metho first, and it has lasted well, however many gurus say to use a good wax and grease remover, but with my interior plastics and under the bonnet plastics, a light sand and metho has worked great. As for other plastic parts, just whatever floats yer boat I suppose. I did my oil dip stick handle, coolant lid and washer bottle lid the same color as the car........
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
got any photos ?
Yep, go to my profile and click on the albums, there's a photo of the engine cover, but I hadn't done the other parts mentioned. There's also photos of some of the interior stuff. Cheers

I agree with what has been said but make shaw you also use a plastic primer first as it will make the paint look better and not peel away after time check out the photos of my engine bay....Mick.
do u have too use a heat proof paint or ?? what paint do u get just a narmal one
yeh dude, use the heat proof stuff... normal paint will come off over time, and that would kinda suck
I used normal vinyl paint on my covers. It has'nt started to peel after 3 months, so far so good. High temp stuff is more for more conductive components like the plennum. I just degreased the area and sprayed away. Looks almost professional.
Thanks guys i will put some pics up when i get it done
Just make sure u give it a thorough clean with prep wash or wax/grease remover. Also give it a light sand so it breaks up the surface.
