Exclamation VZ Wagon Tail Gate Window Rubber Seal rip off

Ok I need a new seal for the tail gate on my VZ wagon rang 3 dealerships only to be told they cost from $142.00 to $169.00 this is a rip off big time. The first dealership in Geelong first quoted $45.00 but when he went to order it he found it had a new part number and it jump from $45.00 to $169.00 .

Anyone know were I can get this cheaper please ?

You're not Robinson Crusoe buddy - Try $850 for a drivers leather seat back cover, or $6 for those little nylon seat back clips that must cost 20 cents to make. Seems to me that the Dealers are making more money out of spares to make up for lack of sales in vehicles.....We do have an option though- WALK!!!!!

You don't really have a choice unless you want a 2nd hand seal. I wouldn't think that there would be huge aftermarket support for that kind of thing, windscreen seal maybe, rear window seal less likely. I recently paid over $100 for a new satin chrome shifter + shift boot and a few plastic buttons - it probably cost holden about $5 to make all that but no one else manufactures them and there is no way in hell i'd find those parts 2nd hand in near-new condition.

Just hope to hell Holden actually have stock of the seal - i've been after Holden for a new chrome door seal since October 2008. Holden have no stock, and now i have the ACCC investigating it, i doubt i'll ever see the seal i handed over $200 of my hard earned for. Holden's excuse is that they don't do business with the supplier that used to make them, and are in the process of getting a new supplier.

Also be glad you don't have a Ford, you don't even want to how much of a ripoff the spare parts for those are (ford enthusaists call it Fraud Spares).

I put it down to the fact that car sales are now poor so they need to make the money via the spare part's. Oil drain plug for a VR V6 is costing me $25.00 .

I'll have to get it later but I will get it from a dealer that has it cheaper.
