Default why VZ V6 mail order tunes are shit...

had a car come in this morning with the owner complaing about a few things his mail order tune was doing funny..

so ran it up and it spat out a huge 161rwhp.. thats with CAI, extractors, high flow cats and a good cat back.. around the same figure as a bog stocker...

so blew the tune away retuned to suit.. 191rwhp.. about spot on the money for those mods and 30rwhp gain over his $550 mail order rubbish..

It really sucks for people that go the mail tune option, they must have money to burn Proof is in the pudding so to speak.

Are all mail order tunes the same rubbish for the VZ? (not that I'm thinking of "tuning" my VZ)

I think this shows you don't always get what you pay for. Plenty of LSX mail order tunes out there doing what they're meant to do so nothing wrong with mail order tunes in general.

hey Dale, on the topic of Dyno's would you guys be interested in giving mine a run on the dyno one day (when I'm back on my feet). I'm curious what figures its doing. Obviously happy to pay for the thrill, but I just want to find someone whose happy to give it a run without the attitude I've copped from a few places because I'm not getting work done to it!

    Cheers

would love too, but 4 weeks ago a pot hole helped me to meet a guard rail while riding a motor bike on one of NSW's many well maintained "tourist" roads, so I'm kind of stuck at home for another month at least with a busted left side!

    When's the next day happening?

will try and have another day in a few months!

$100 for a speedo recal on the V6, they are a little tricky and require about a hour on the dyno

How many places do mail order tunes for the VZ commodore most tunes are different so I don't think it can be said that all mail order tunes are shit and comparing it against a dyno tune is a bit unfair in my opinion.

From what I've heard is that you guys do a great job though.

theres a shit load of these mail order tunes around in sydney that ive heard of and seen, not worth the rubbish just do a custom tune at castle hill exhaust. i asked them when i first went for that tune what there tune was based on: he said "cat back exhaust, cold air intake and extractors" and once he did it and i drove out of there i could feel something wrong with the torque.
