    Default Redback for VZ

    G'day

went around to exhaust places getting quotes today and stumbled into a problem, im after a redback system with paceys. i originally wanted twin 2.5" system but half of the shops i went to said twin 2.5" is not what they reccommend because the engine 'breathes tomuch' and reduces power that you would get out of the system, so they reccommended single 2.5" and i'll be sweet with the power and the engine breathing. Any suggestions on what i should do? looking to get this done soon so replys ASAP would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers guys
    Chris

yeh dude im with them... get a single 2.5 inch, twin system is just a waste of money and it works worse than normal.. Unless you have a turbo V8 or something that might need it, but a V6' its just overkill

i had a feeling this old bloke was right when he first asked my why i wanted twin. then he explained to me that it really wouldnt be benefiting my car in any way because of to much breathing so he suggested the single..
    Thanks for the help mate.

    just my input...
i have a twin 2 1/2" fitted on my car, and it hasnt lacked power or anything, it as made a bit more power at the bottom end and a pretty good difference at the top end. i also was told all that shit about only going single 2 1/2" or single 3" but i went to my local carline mufflers and he races his car so i took his advice on twin 2 1/2" redback system. and i'm not regretting a thing, its made a difference.

im getting a 2 1/4 on my vz wagn cat back exhaust custom fitted and aparently thats the way to go. asked for a 2 1/2 and the zorst shop said the same thing, it would breath too freely, and that the v6's dont need that much.

2 1/4 twin straight through. asked for it to go into single 3 inch but the zorst bloke again told me that there in no point.

well 2 1/4" is whats stock, but the stock exhaust has flat spots which is when the pipe goes smaller threw the cross member and that. i guess the aftermarket 2 1/4" doesn't have flat spots therefore making a better flow of air. but yeah, i have the twin 2 1/2" and its great, the only thing a do slightly regret is i had it fitted without the rear resonator, its too loud i reckon.

I have a custom 21/2 inch catback from caloundra exhaust centre, sounds quite nice i think, has a nice gurgle down gears, can be drony when cold but it doesnt bother me when first installed it was more droney, but after a little while it seemed to get a good note, dunno if its just me or can the exhaust be broken in?

i think i might just go with the old bloke and go the paceys into the 2 1/2 single system. From what i've heard you can sorta break it in, to start off with the inside of the exhaust is clean etc, after coating it with shit that comes out of the exhaust thats when its broken in? correct me if im wrong

EDIT: single system with twin dump tips on the end
