Plugs are due to be changed at 120,000KM according to the book. I changed mine at 65,000.

I would definitely get them chagned if you can't remember the last time they were...

Sparkies, O2 Sensors, Fuel Filter, Leak between Throttle Body to Air Box (causes throttle to close at times due to loss of vaccume) or some other vaccume leak. Hell even a dirty air filter. Dirty maf....

Change your plugs, if that doesnt help look at your coil packs on each plug.

Is it just a miss when you boot it? And does it do the same when revving it in neutral? If so, it could be the spark plug delay. Probably time to change them.

Best way for me to describe what is happening is.... when accelerating it feels like i would be tapping the clutch a few times a second. (even though its auto) lol

I remember a while back the air filter came loose so ill check that again. but other than that the air filter is clean.
fuel filter and oxygen sensor have already had to be replaced.

It doesnt happen in neutral its only when its being worked...so its a bit harder to tell if its the motor or gearbox or diff. grrrrr

how much is it to get the plugs done?
whats a good brand to get. price doesnt really matter as there only spark plugs anyway. =]

6 Plugs usually cost around $70 from Holden.
A good brand would be Bosch. When u get them make sure there platinum tipped. This type of engine requires these plugs

I got Bosch plugs from repco, platinum tipped at trade price was around $60, Slightly cheaper then what i was quoted from holden. I would definitely get them from holden unless you can get a discount elsewhere.

Read this thread - Engine hesitant in first gear

I had a very similar problem to you that turned out to be the coils. The thread above should help you with some more info on changing your plugs and where to source cheap coils.

One ignition coil per spark plug = 6 coils.

They plug directly onto the spark plug & bolt onto the engine to carry the weight & prevent movement.

A genuine set costs an arm & leg from Holden, but you can pick up Bosch kit off Ebay for about 30% of the cost of genuine ones.

Fitted a set today together with new plugs & front O2 sensors. Not a problem.

lol not taking the piss mate, i honestly thought the alloytec was coil less, as there are no real Ignition lead to coil pack process.. similiar to my VR. Does this mean coils are Upgradable, assisting in more power and better detonation?
