Thumbs down VZ V6 ute noise and vibration

    g'day all,
my 2005 v6 ute is having a couple of problems...its got a real shakey idle...as soon as i start up and the engine's cold..it'll idle at about 1100 revs...after about 2-3 mins it drops to 800 revs, then starts to develop a vibration which you can feel inside the car...it will sometimes give a little bit of a kick aswell..like someones tried to rock your car just once real quick..its sorta like a misfire..but the revs stay the same...i understand that the alloytec is known to have a rough idle, but i've been in vz's that have no where near as much vibration...also...when im driving at 70 km/h in 5th gear and take my foot of the accelerator, it has a weird noise...it sounds exactly like a turbo flutter..but no where near as loud and lasts about 1-2 seconds...last but not least...im pretty sure its just gear whine in 4th and 6th gear...im gunna run injector cleaner with 95 petrol...and on my 75 000km service get them to do a transmission and diff oil change..possibly spark plugs if i have the money...what are your thoughts about what the problem could be and what can be done to fix it?
    thanks fellas

Sounds like a similar problem to what my father had on his VZ 2006 executive. I happened to drive the car back home after the 120,000 service and when i got home, it started vibrating at idle throughout the cabin and steering wheel. If you revved it a bit, you couldn't pick it, same from a cold start because its idles at higher RPM. And yea, it'd run rough and sort of misfire.

Took it to Holden and they reckoned it was a sticky valve and said it was going to cost 4k to repair. Took it to the local mechanic, he replaced the oil and reset the computer and everything was honky dory. So resetting the computer might be worth a go. ( I think you only need to disconnect the battery?) That's what my father told me.

    Hope this helps,
    John

thanks man, i'll give it a go...i've run some injector cleaner through it and it has smoothed it out abit...it has only used a quarter of a tank of petti with cleaner in it though, and my bro has my car untill tomorrow, and he would've used another quarter of a tank.so when he gets back i'll check out how the idle is and i'll disconnect the battery...thanks dude
