    Hey,

Wondering if you could help me?

I'm having problems with my VZ V6 ute. When im doing 80 kms in 5th gear the revs are about 2000rpm. It used to sit on 1500rpm. I have to put it in 6th to have it rev at 1500rpm now. It is reving higher than usual in every gear. I have noticed the change since it was serviced.
I have taken it to a few mechanics nd they are saying I need to have the gear box taken out, but others are saying it is the clutch slipping? I have no idea what to do?!

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks

    i think you are mistaken...

firstly, your gearbox is fine, somebody is taking you for a ride on that one, if it was having problems, you'd know about it.

If your clutch was slipping that badly, you'd be almost free-revving everytime you put your foot even slightly down.

And finally, guess what revs i'm doing at 80 km/h in 6th gear? 1500rpm.
    and in 5th? 2000rpm.

your gearing works as a ratio, it doesn't change as your car gets older

i have a feeling you might have been driving around in 6th when u actually thought u were in 5th.

But your car is fine, trust me

drop a skid somewhere. if the tyres light up, laughin! if theres no lines and alot of smoke and a bad smell, yes, you have a problem, now much worse than before!
