my vz equipe immobilizer doesnt work

hi guys i recently purchased a 2005 vz commodore equipe and it seems the immobilizer isnt working now in my old car which was a vs it worked as it should.A prime example is i sometimes leave my key in the ignition and i can start it without having to press the unlock button on the remote same is if im waiting in a car park with the car off i can start it where as with the vs i had to unlock the doors.Also i need to know if the car has a standard alarm because i havent heard it go off yet cheers mike

yeah thats normal. ive only set mine off in the calais when i've taken too long to open the door after unlocking, or locking it from inside then trying to get out...
