Wanting to get specs for the cross 6 1 tonner. e.g. diff ratios, if the front crown wheel and pinion is the same as the rear, and any known problems with the front drive line and centre diff. Thanks
Theoretically it would have to be the same either end, otherwise the transfer differential would destroy itself very quickly
Hi mate,
I've just (like last week) sold my Cross 6 One Tonner that I owned from brand new. The diffs are different front and rear, though I assume the ratios will be the same, unless the centre planetary gear set does something fancy. The centre transfer case (it's not really a diff) is the same as the Territory, and BMW X3/5. My car had a VERY hard life, spent a fair portion of it's time being flogged on gravel as my recce car for events, and the rest of the time towing the rally car to events whilst carrying nearly a tonne worth of spares/fuel/tyres/tools in the tray. Nothing driveline related broke in 5 years. The only thing to have failed was the water pump... which is VZ specific, not cross 6 related.
Can't recommend them high enough. I'm having to purchase two vehicles (diesel I-load and diesel forester) to replace the job that just the Cross 6 OT did. If you're asking about the diffs because you want to put an LSD or locker in it, don't bother. The traction control system works extremely well (better than I ever expected). I had the car on the beach regularly, and at one event also went through some deep mud that alot of 'name brand' 4WD's got bogged in, and never got bogged. I also entered the car in a couple of tarmac rallies (see handbrake slide in avatar), and it never failed me.
Get a low k one, there's plenty floating around. And if you're looking at a white one with about 107,000k's on it... I wouldn't recommend that particular example!![]()

thanks mate, i was hoping 2 find someone with a few clues.
yes i did want 2 change ratios & fit a locker out of my old girl. (vs wagon 530,000k, been beach to simpson desert on 225/75-15) sounds like i may have problems finding 3.7 ratios. do u know what std ratios are? i want 2 fit taller tyres 4 towing my camper in sand. i want to gear it down 4 towing & as a driver/rider trainer i have access 2 a skid pan & want 2 drive it! it has 2 spin more tyres than std tonner, so i was hoping 2 help it with shorter ratios. can traction control b turned off? do u remember how much clearance from tyre 2 spring seat? (i had 2 modify the vs 2 suit the tyres)
many thanks. i appreciate your input as i havent seen one in the flesh yet 2 get a good look.
