got hit on the way home from work at a set of lights
the guy said his "foot slipped"
thankfully though he's been really nice about it and his insurance is gunna cover it all etc but won't be able to get anything done til monday
damage isnt too bad but still hurts
was just gunna ask (will attach photos) what you all think will be the best thing to do
so far all that seems to be damaged is the rear bumper and the park assist
plan atm is to just replace the rear bumper and get park assist looked at
if the insurance is covering it take it to a panel beater and get them to fix it
I suggest you make a claim through your own insurance company and let them sort it out. This other guy may seem nice and legit but how do you know he is insured at all? He could be yanking your chain. I think you need to inform your own insurance company because otherwise you're leaving yourself wide open to be stooged. Don't take the chance mate. I do hope you are insured....
certainly am i let them know this morning so its all set if he tries anything
it may look like the damage isn't too bad but who knows what behind the bar looks like.
May be worse than you think, like.
just from a guess, new bar, and sensors, possible the reo bar to.
does this guy have full comp or third party, if he has third party just go thru your company cos you'll have to wait for him to pay his excess before any work gets done to your car
Chev badges are an instant fail
i ran up the back of a vz recently...
their repair bill came to around 1400...
issue is the plastic bumpers can pop out hiding any damage underneath...
just make sure that you get proof of repairs before and after, so your car is completely repaired properly, not just the attitude of "cant see it, she'll be right".
What impulse said try avoiding dodgy shops if you have the choice, becuase some are like that and oh well he will never know, becuase once its out of their showroom floor its not their problem and you dont have anything against them unless you have proof, thus they will try getting rid of you as quickly as possible when you come to pick it up
the towbar would have likely been hit id check the boot floor too could be bent or torn at the towbar mounting points.
Cheers for the heads up guys il make sure they check the tow bar mounts and boot etc
ah and the tow bar smashed through the front of other guys car so there was some satisfaction that his car didnt get off without a scratch seeing his car leak and have bits falling off all the way round the corner to a safe spot to exchange details
Spot on Guys took it today for evaluation and quick view sees the tow bar bent and boot crackedpreviously posted by ashbox

also getting all repairs started and getting them to chase the other guy up cause still waiting for him to pass on insurance details
thanks again for advice and what not
just want the car back to being the beauty that it is
If your insured just go through your company and tell them his details and that he was at fault that way they have to be buggerised around with not you.
slightly off topic but how was the other guy, surely ur tow bar would have done some nice damage to him, possibly his radiator?
it looked pretty crappy on the drive round the street back to his house to sort out insurance details rego etc his car was leaking quite badly and pieces of his car were falling off
even when at the panel beaters today the guy said his radiator would probably be gone etc
unfortunately because their computers crashed before i got there they didnt have the information from the NRMA so havn't been able to start work yet =(
Same thing happened to me, I stopped at a round-a-bout and the guy behind me didn't, he said he thought I would keep going! The guy didnt have insurance (said he had only just let it lapse!).
The damage didnt look too bad (had damaged rear bumper, boot latch & boot, two rear tail lights, etc) but there was more damage that we couldnt see!
Hopefully if everything is fixed I get her back this week!![]()
thats the beauty of nrma, when i got hit i thought i would be calling the other persons insurer and fiddling around. called nrma and they asked for her details and license details and stuff then told me to make a booking with my repairer. didnt have to chase a thing.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
yeah was so happy though had to do a little recon cause i knew where he lived cause i drove there but not the street name or anything so when they asked i put em on hold and quickly drove round (by that i mean i put mum on the phone :P)
booked into panel beaters tomorrow so pumped taking her in first thing in the morning 7am
so hopefully be back soon as possible
get it back on Friday =)
only some damage to the beaver panel (metal panel behind the bumper)
I got hit on the way home from work a while back, at roundabout, girl saw a gap but forgot about me in front, end result is I got rear ended.
Unfortunately my fiberglass isn't as strong as a factory bar. Also I felt sorry for the girl, it was a accident, but even with the relatively small amount of damage she still copped an airbag to the face, didn't even puncture the radiator or anything so I don't know why it went of

All up the repair bill was about $4000 including new Clubbie bar, new beaver panel, and new towbar assembly, thankfully all the welds were OK, and no ballooning in boot.
