i always use 98 octane when i brought my car 8 weeks ago it was sluggish because the last owner used e10 91ulp with a change of fuel and a performance air filter the car is heaps quicker

Any 91 RON. But I do add a small dose of Flash Lube each time. No problems with power and economy. Occasionally I splash out and put in the good 98 RON but only if I'm gonna be towing a heavy trailer a long way. It makes a big difference.

Am I wasting my $$ using power all the time or should I only use it like once a month or so?

98 octane of any major brand here. I won't let the ethanol crap touch any of my cars, i also don't go to small no-name servo's.

i use 95 all the time..bugger 91/e10...i don't use 98 koz i think it's a waste of money for just driving, if your going long distances or driving for a long time, driving in rather high temps or towing a load or any other condition to put more load or pressure on the engine, then i'd use 98...that octance number only refers to the pre detonation property of the fuel(im pretty sure) so if your not doing anything to give your engine the reason to pre detonate(high temperatures, towing etc) then you don't need the 98...most of the stuff you hear, like it's cleaner burning, heaps better economy etc, most of thats myths, you might see an economy difference of 2% or so i think the figure is, barely anything to worry about.

correct me if im wrong, cheers mate

Sure the 98ron may not make a huge difference on fuel consumption itself, but the 98 octane fuels like Vortex, Ultimate, and V Power clean out your fuel system which means more power and in turn better fuel consumption in the future. Plus my car is tuned with 98ron

That's true about the bigger names over the independants..you should always get your petrol from a place that turns it over consistantly...it's of higher quality and you don't get this thing to do with water and the fuel and seperating and all that sorta stuff..or was that only for e10, i dunno, i'll scan some pages if it comes up alright of a Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers magazine i get...they done a segment of storing your boat's fuel for a long time, and the pro's and con's of using ethanol fuel, i assume this would be the same for independant petrol stations.

oh and of course, if you cars tuned for 98..use 98 haha

Anyone know what happens when E10 and Vpower is mixed constantly?

I try to use Vpower all the time, but my dad fills up on E10, so inevitably most of the time I have a mix in there
Also, given the petrol prices at the moment, what do you think is reasonable for premium fuel? I find that if you go on cheap Thursday you can get premium for around $1.33/L.

you dont need to be loaded to fill up with 95/98, when you think about it the difference over 91/91+10eth is only a few dollars per tank
