my parents vy does this too..it's got an aftermarket alarm in it though..i think it's just sound sensors or something like that...you'd walk away after it's locked at the most inconveniant time(12am outside your parents window) and the bloody thing starts screaming at ya...any suggestions anyone?

My old VT did this and found it was just due to a bit of gunk etc. I just put a tiny bit of WD down the lock and manually did it a few times and it loosened up. Where as my dads VY drivers side locking mechanism is totally gone and have to lock it with the key, to avoid the horn/alarm going off.

Assuming whoever installed it or yourself checked the wiring with a multimeter?

my old man was saying that when the latch goes down inside the door when you lock it..it's a solenoid pulling it down...he wanted me to have a look and see if it's working right...shit knows if it's even a solenoid but i haven't gotten around to it...if i get off my arse and do it and fix it..i'll let you know..my old man is pretty smart though, so he might be right

He is 100% right, a month ago my car did the same thing....and guess what...the solenoid snapped from the bottom end...when u lock ur car check if ur car is locked...check all doors.

hahaha..accidently of course..thats like, if you accidently open the door, accidently took the trim off, accidently done whatever else you had to do, accidently slip the solenoid in your pocket, accidently didn't realise..accidently got caught, and accidently faced the cops..and coincidently had the tools to do the job you needed to do ahaha

    whata coinky dink!
