    Default VZ First Car?

    Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering what you guys would think a VZ as a first car. I know I'm thinking about this early (I'm 15 in 2 months) but I think that if I think about this sort of thing now I can work out how much money I'm going to need to get my car etc.
    Thanks.

DO IT..if the funds and parents allow...my first car is a vz ute and i love it...plenty of fun to play with plus its safe and modern
although, by the time your 16-17ish, you might even start to find some decent VE's if you're interested

i am not a vz owner haha, but my mate has a vz calais and it is a beautiful car mate.
just keep saving and saving like most of the young blokes like me on here have done and by the time you 17 - 18 and looking seriously for cars you can keep your options open.
good luck and let us know how you go.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I want to start saving but first I have to get a part-time job, which is no walk in the park.

I had the same thoughts, people tried to tell me that I'll scrape it and to get an old banger for a car that i wont have to repair, etc.

I've only scraped one thing (rear q panel) reversing out of my driveway, HungOver. haha. $600 cash fix.

The only other accident happened yesterday and It could be a write off, but as i was hit in the rear whilst almost stationary it's not my fault :P.

Moral of the story is, get what you want not what other people may try and suggest.

Yeah mate, VZ as a first car, that'd be bloody great! I thought mine was new for being an 2003 model but yeah go 4 it mate. I turned 17 in feb this year and have had my p's since march and that TL magna has been awesome! Fast reliable and modern! People can't believe it's actually my car! See I had 3 other cars b4 the magna tho. I had two 1990 nissan pulsars sold them then I had a 1999 VT manual sold that then my parents gave me their magna (my parents supplied all of these cars). I've never looked back since I got ma maggie. I love it to bits. Also dad's got a 2005 VZ crewman S and it's a great car! Love driving it too. Not as powerfull as the maggie but still packs a punch!

yea man go the vz calais. I just got one as my second car. wished i had spent a little more and got one as my first car.The V6 is NA but high output alloytec 190kw which is much better than the std at 170kw. They didnt come factory with 6 speed manual but they have a 5 speed auto with paddle shiufts which is also mad anyway. by the time you are looking you should be able to get a pretty good one for around $15000.

I started off on a VL and i loved it but sadly it had a lot of surface rust that was getting worse and the boot leaked etc and no one wanted to touch it so finding a quality place to fix her up without breaking the bank w6 as hard
thankfully though good deal on a family friends 04 VZ sv6 came up and yeah it was said to see the VL go but ive loved the SV6 since day one

    Hi Guys,
Thanks to all that replied. I would love a VZ Calais as a first car however I'm not sure I'll have 14-15 grand by the time it comes to buying my first car. I really need to start working now but I can't get a job. I will keep trying because I DO want a Calais.
    Thanks, again.

P.S. Will keep you guys updated if I get a job.

a vz for a FIRST car? wow, if only i was able to do that haha- my first was an 86 telstar

guess i'm thinking like an old man but- your first car is meant to be the 'run into the ground rust-bucket', so you can give it hell, learn how to jump start, change a tyre, fix it etc :P haha

Yeah mate I feel the same as you. On monday i was backing up my magna to the garage and i felt this small jult. I then went out to inspect the damage. I now have a big half a coke bottle sized dint in the corner of my rear bumper along with some deep scratches. And my maggie's my baby and it hurts me to see it hurt ((((. Dad said he will probably respray the bumper on the wkend . We'll do it in 2-pack of course so it actually lasts.

    aw that sucks
i had similar issues with my first car (88 VL commodore) luckily i think the most i ever had to spend after backing it into anything was 100 bucks (replace bumper and light) (thankfully parents didnt make me pay to fix fence) (live in a battle axe block so playing the car shuffle to get everyones car out is always a pain)
hope it all goes well and you have your car back to good as new asap

If I was you i would also be looking at VY series 2, acclaim, berlina, Calais whatever. When you get your job and some cash check out the insurance of a few different models before ya buy one ... Insurance on a VZ calais for a P plater will be a couple of Grand a year, don't waste ya money thats my opinion. You would also be able to do more of the servicing yourself on a VY so will learn more and save more if you don't have much cash ... my first car was an LX torana for $1500.
