its time to install a new clutch, as the factory one is starting to slip
have heard some talk about the textralia, exedy and xtreme kits.
just wondering what would be my best bet in performance and $$ wise?
all help will be appreciated.

Haven't heard much bout the Textralia Clutches but a few guys on the forums have gone Exedy or extreme.
Remember when u change to a HD Clutch u dont utilise the dual mass flywheel anymore. With a single mass flywheel, from wat ive heard you'll get abit of gearbox chatter at idle & in certain gears. My clutch has prob only got a few months to go, so ill be in the same boat as u pretty soon.

i have just replaced my standard clutch with an exedy hd kit and am very happy with it. if you do decide to go with exedy i recomend you give northern brake and clutch in kensington a call i got mine through them and it was much cheaper than anywhere else i could find. Phone number is 1800 4Exedy or 1800 439 339
go with the excedy, i'v only heard good things about them in the V6
want to see more then a typical commodore fitted with an exhuast, then check my thread out... link broken cuase i dont own a tuff car, i just made it up...
just done the old auto to manual conversion, bought a new clutch wit it, exedy clutch, pressure plate, thrush bearing and pivot bush thing and all up it was $272, clutch is worn in now, can slip it an drop it an purrs like a kitten, no slip or nothing, 1st to 2nd is really good as if you punch it hard enough and really drop clutch into 2nd holds down the street baggin which is pretty good i think, compared to the auto box which was absoloutly SHIT lol
Vs eco 3.8, extractors, 2.75" exhaust, roller rockers, cammed, bored out 20, t5 manual, rolling on king springs all way round with monroe gt shocks all way round, every door has a ding but looks can be very deceaving
I got a extreme in mine best thing i did to the car. clutch is harder and basicly in or out but once you get used to it, its really great. Even if i sit in traffic for an hour aint to bad on the leg.
getting an exedy heavy duty with soild flywheel done as we speak, (along with gearbox fixing) will let you know how it goes.
$1350 for the whole lot at ICES
Thanx mate, ill be interested to hear how urs goes!

CAR IS BACK!!!!!!!!! (after alot of money)
gearbox is tighter than ever, john did a great job![]()
im driving really softly at the moment just out of paranoia (and to let the clutch bed itself in), but i definitely can tell u a few things about the exedy clutch kit.
Firstly, it is a fair bit heavier and springier on the foot than the standard clutch, but after a bit of getting used to it its ok.
In terms of performance, it's fairly drivable, you can still take off just as smoothly as before
it is a tad noisier, and at low revs (900-1300ish) it can vibrate a bit under heavy throttle. Otherwise it drives fine
I haven't done any real launches as such, but already i can tell it bites like a mofo.
No slip whatsoever once the clutch is fully released, and with the solid flywheel it's pretty brutal if you let it out a lil too quickly.
All in all, (after only a few hours of driving it lol) it's a great package, once it's bedded in and i'm a lil more confident with my only just repaired gearbox, i am absolutely certain mid6's to 100 will be fairly ok, and the launch compared to the old clutch setup will be brutal. I would (so far) reccommend it to anybody considering it![]()
It was 900 just for the kit with a solid mass flywheel i put it in myself but they could put it in for you if you want. price might be different for a vz but it would be worth giving them a call
