Hey guys,
So we went to use the car for work this morning but the keyless entry remote wasn't working. I am assuming it has run out of batteries.
Now I have been quoted an average price to get the keyhead replaced but the problem is they need the car there to program it.
I am pretty sure as soon as I put the key in the door to open the alarm is going to sound and I am not sure if it is going to turn off without use of the keyhead.
The car is a Holden Commodore Executive VZ Wagon 2005. I just don't want to try it until I know the alarm will turn off by itself.
I read somewhere that you can sometimes bypass it but unlocking door manually (sounding alarm), put keys in ignition to ON position but do not start car, wait until alarm finishes doing its thing and then start car. Does this work?
Cheers,
Jess.
In my vz sv6 if I open with the key it makes the alarm go off and the car won't start :/ hope my key keeps working![]()
ive had to open my sv6 with the key, just open the door, the alarm will go and put the key in the ignition and turn it, the alarm will stop
and im not sure if this works with the vz as well, but cant you just take your key to a locksmith or holden dealer and ask for a new key? they can either cut it or change over the remote bit and you just put it in your car until it reprograms itself.
It has happened to me.
The key has probably gone out of sync with the BCM.
Before spending money on a new key head that has to be programmed with a Tech 2 - just read this thread & follow the steps to re-synch your key.
What happened to my key remote?
