Hey all
Just got a wheel alignment and balanced recently but it doesn't seem right.
When you turn the wheel it has no resistance whatsoever
is this normal?
Cheers
If there is nor resistance whatsoever then I suggest that you have the front of the car jacked up and wheels off the ground. That would be my understanding of 'no resistance whatsoever'.
When you turn the steering do the front wheels turn ?? They should, therefore there must be some resistance. Seems to me that you don't really have any idea of what to feel when turning the steering wheel.
Take it back to the workshop that did the job and have them check it for you - after all you paid to have it done (correctly).
If the front wheels were fairly out before the alignment, them now being straight(er) will cause less 'drag' and thus make the steering feel a bit lighter... if thats what you mean...
Maybe your tyre pressures were low and they pumped them up as they should prior to doing an alignment.
If the specs were out enough to cause drag your tyres would be torn to shreds.

Cheers Fellas,
How much resistance should there generally be when turning the wheel?
How longs a piece of string?
Bit hard to describe how much resistance there should be, all cars are different.
Low to very little resistance wouldnt indicate issues where a lot of resistance would.
