    Default HSV steering wheels

I got my hands on a VZ Clubsport steering wheel and put it on my Berlina, which broke the clock spring resulting in me having to replace it. While being repaired the mechanic noticed the back of the steering wheel sits out further then the original one, which caused the damage to the clock spring when the steering wheel was tightened. I had the clock spring that came with the Clubsport steering wheel however the wiring loom plug was different, therefore couldn't use it. The mechanic told me I could grind the extra metal on the steering wheel down so I could use the Berlina clock spring, however I'm not to keen on doing that. The other option was to get the HSV wiring loom which he said would be a big job to replace. Has anyone else had this problem or any advice on what I should do? Thanks.

Disregard my last post, after a little more research just found out the steering wheel I have is from a Vy Clubsport not a VZ Clubsport like the d***head that I bought it off told me it was, contemplating asking him for the $340 it cost to get the new clock spring fitted as well as the money I paid for it. For the information of those who might try it in the future, although the spline from later VY model steering wheels fit the VZ steering shaft the clock spring on the VZ sits out further and when the bolt is tightened lugs at the back of the steering wheel around the spline go into the clock spring stuffing it. Going to see if it's possible to get the VY wiring loom fitted, if it's a resonalbe price, if not will go back on ebay. Will post something when I get an answer if anyone is interested. Definately learnt a lesson, don't believe what people tell you on ebay when buying something or get it checked before you install it.

I put a Calais wheel in my Acclaim.
Of course it was off a VY. I got it cheapish off ebay and it was listed as a VZ.

Then it would not fit properly until I took an angle grinder to it. Now it fits perfectly.

Luckily I did not break anything trying to install it before I modified it.

You've had no issues since grinding it down?
