hey what do u guys think of tinting the rear lights on an sv6..
a friend keeps on telling me to do it but i dont know.
cheers
whats your logic in giving people less of a chance to be able to see you?
A Jc memner in SA did it to his White VZ SV6, looked really good, but he got someone to only do it lightly and they did it by spraying the lights with clear and only tinted them slightly by mixing a small amount of black. so they came out basically looking like SS lights.
the best way is scan ebay for SS lights. not cheap i know but youll get satisfaction knowing that your ADR compliant.
Yeah just put SS ones in, tinted can look cheap.
Silver Certified.
yeah mite just do that
I had tinted front and rears on my Brocky VC years ago, and was yellow stickered for it. I even put more powerful globes in the rears so they could still be easily seen, but was told unless it comes out of the factory like that, me doing it on my own is illegal and they need to be taken off.
So yeah, if you can find ADR compiant ones, then i wouldn't bother with touching them.

A sure fire way of getting rear ended on a dark wet night with reuced visibility. Tail lights like any light fitted as external (front/rear) are designed to comply with ADRs (Australian Design Rules)
Any (ANY) modification(s), unless approved to ADR standards, that change/alter/modify any aspect of your vehicle from the ADR standards/requirements that existed at the time of manufacture of your vehicle are ILLEGAL.
there benboy goes again with his adr stuff....
Thats funny, my car was rear ended on a dark wet night AFTER i swapped my tinted lights for stock ones on my VL. None of my other cars have been rear ended with tint.....
Someones 'sure fire' must have burnt out a long time ago![]()

Generally for an insurance company to refuse a claim, the modification in question must have been a factor in the accident.

What's so "LOL" about that? The fact is tinted taillights are harder to see than untinted ones. Chances are slim regarding tinted taillights causing an accident, but is still more likely than with untinted ones. Oh and I didn't write anything about "Pulling out of driveways."

I never said you did. You had the urgency of it (asin, as soon as there tinted, your car somehow has a huge target on the back).
I've never heard of any instance where the car behind hit the car in front because they couldn't see the tinted lights (seen plenty of times when the car is an old bomb and has NO rear lights, but never tinted lights)

Just my personal opinion, that's all. I shall leave mine untinted.
