    Default low traction :S

ive got a 6spd vz sv6 and sometimes when i take off from rest, a chirpy noise comes from the engine or possibly the rear tyres and a "low traction" text comes up at the speedo. this also sometimes happens when i quickly change gears at high revs. its getting pretty annoying now, just wondering is this normal? if not has anybody else had a problem like this?

    cheers

dont rev the car so much, the reason that message comes on is because you have lost traction and chirping the rear tyres. you can turn off traction control with the button near the power window switches, but you have to turn it off everytime you start the car, it doesnt stay off all the time

It's called a skid mate. Sometimes happens if you drop the clutch. lol nah I know what you mean the scraping sound, it comes from the gearbox/clutch I think it just might be the dual mass flywheel slipping and causing the car to think it's low traction. The dmfw is designed to slip. It prevents wear to other parts when you stall or kangaroo hop the car. Also allows for smoother driving for those more retarded kinda who cannot drive properly.

Solution, change the clutch. Or. Find friction point then release hamdbrake like en dad or mum taught you how to drive first up. It's fairly normal I believe

The car detects low traction using the wheel speeds sensors so driveline slip will not cause traction control to engage.

i get that clutch squeal sometimes but i don't think its what he was talking about..chirps sound like the tyres or when you first start up your car you might hear the serpentine belt slip and chirp that little tiny bit for a split second..hmmm, interesting to know if it is tyres or not

If your chirping between gears, you need to revise the way you drive. It's not a racecar, so why drive it like it is? Unless the previous owner didnt tell you about the stroker kit and intercooled supercharger.

Sorry I misunderstood where the noise was coming from.

However, If it does it taking off, when at less then walking pace. My car does it too, rarely, depending on how slow I'm moving. There have been previous threads on this aswell surely these wheel speed sensors aren't that big of an issue. Haven't heard of this till now. Could be another problem with the 6 speed.

the wheels arnt chirping.. it happens when i take off slowly so the wheels cant spin.. its just a noise coming from either the engine or the clutch/gearbox or under the car somewhere.. its not wheel spin chirp..

i also found a different thread about the same problem..
they suggest it might be the diff or the gears arnt lining up correctly when put into gear..

stuff that man..can buy a new diff for that..ahh well, try do some pin pointing on it...find out if your chirp noise happens when you let the clutch out at idle speed aswell or just under light load etc...if you think it could be your clutch, take off like you normally would in first gear, but instead, do it in neutral....or take off as your normally would but with the handbrake on, but only for a split second...stand outside the car and try find where it's coming from when someone else does it etc...you know what i mean...good luck with it mate

    hey mate,
ive got the same problem, very low revs on a slow take of and it clunks then you get the low trac. warning. Im pretty sure its like inside the diff the teeth grinding together and its a common fault with the vz sv6 6 speeds.
sometimes mine wont do it for weeks, then one day i might get 2-5 or something like that.
i dont really worry about it that much as it doesnt happen that often and its my understanding it was just a common fault that couldnt be fixed easily
    hope this helps
