whining noise

I ahve a whining noise coming from engine(v6 alloytec),wonder if it is tensioner pulley or something else .Does it at idle and gets worse as you drive??

could be anything that is driven my the accessory belt. But most likely it is one of the 2 idler pulleys. if it is the pulley save your self 40 bucks for a new one just press out the bearing and replace it.

mine also whines in like 1st and 2nd, but then i heard its kinda normal for the 5sp auto to whine

Tell the biatch to get the fcuk out of the engine bay.

Seriously though...I would say it's more the box rather than the engine/pulley.

Get someoen to help you rev the car to 1500-2000rpm while stationary while you listen with the bonnet open, Bonnet closed. If no noise, then it's under load which means it driveline, not engine.

Disclaimer: (I'm not machanic...so take it to one that is and you trust...)

ive had mine whine before. through all gears in a manual. pissed me off something chronic. turned off the air con and it fixed the problem. seems only to whine when i put the air con on. so try that mate.
