I was just wondering on the VZ Wagon, how much of a difference would there be if i was to run an amp through the stock speakers with the stock head unit and just add a sub with an amp to the car?
or
Putting in branded speakers with an amp running through them and a sub with an amp with the stock head unit?
bit strapped for cash so just wondering how effective the first one is?
and is there a huge difference if the head unit is stock or not
the stock speakers are like 15w or something, so most likely they will blow. i guess just try it and if they do blow, just replace them with aftermarket ones
You may have a problem getting the stock head unit to trigger the amp.
oh alright thanks guys
i just changed my speakers - new splits in the front and 6" rears
then added an amp onto the stock head unit, trigger wire is attached to the 12v accessory plug.
personally very happy and cost me just on $500 all up.
on mine i have splits in the front running off an amp, sub in boot and stock speakers in the rear doors, and just to add, have hard wired an aux input into the stock headunit for freeso now i enjoy my ipod and sub and amps all off the stock headunit
alrightt I just bought a Sony DVD player for the car so that set me back a bit.
Hopefully get some new 6.5" speakers next weekend
any suggestions on brands or anything would be alright?
and i know this may have been asked but is there any way the buttons on the steering wheel may be able to work with the New DVD player installed?
i just replaced my stock deck with a new alpine one and the standard speakers didnt like that. they blew very quickly. replaced with some cheap jvcs (50 bucks on special) for the time being and is working well. so yes replacing stock speakers is a must if ur going to start messing with stereo.
and you can buy kits from autobarn and supercheap that will wire your buttons into you're new head unit.
