Hey guys
Today was driving around the city in my VZ SS and the dash engine temp warning came on, so I parked the car and lifted the bonnet and I could hear a bubbling noisebut I did notice my fan wasnt on and its always on
so about a minute later it had a lot of hot water coming out of the overflow tank and I mean a good litre of so. So I left it there for about an hour to cool, my mate got there and made me start it and filled up the radiator to the top it wasnt empty but it still could take some fluids. but the car was only sitting there for not even 5 mins and it went straight past 3/4 so i switched it off. My biggest problem is I live 60kms from the city. Once I got onto the freeway the temp was 1/4 because of the air flow goin back into the motor. So I assume this is my fan can anyone help? I am having to go back to driving my 5ltr vn Calais for this week and I dont like LOL
have you checked over the cooling system, my guess would be thermostat or radiator cap, both are known to have had issues, my car did a similiar thing found the cap was faulty

Hi we had the same prob in our SV6 the fans didnt come on and after a long drive water was boiling and temp gauge up. If we put the air con on it cooled the engine and got us to the mechanic without it getting really hot. We ended up getting a new thermostat put in and a new radiator cap and it hasnt happened again.
Need to work out why the fans arent coming on, check fuses/relays for the cooling fans and check that theres power at the connector to the fans themselves.
