Hey guys,
ive got a question about legal ride height, thought id make a new thread incase anyone else had a question about laws or anything in WA as well.
I have an 04 VZ and ive put SSL kings front and rear, the rear wheel sits into the guard, and was told that the law is your hand has to be able to fit above the tire under the guard while your hand is level, no way is this possible on mine. also heard the coke can, 100ml and 2/3rd original travel or more
dont no what to beleive, dont wanna take it to DPI cus they might yellow sticker it if its illegal,
Im worried mainly for insurance purposes as i was told im not currently insured if it is yellow stickerable.
any advice from someone who knows the laws would be great!
Cheers
Mike

I can't really guarantee this as I don't technically 'know' the law on the matter, but I've heard on more than one occasion that it is measured from the lowest point of the vehicle (i.e. your exhaust, if it hangs down a bit :P) and that you should be able to fit at least a standard coke can sized object under there (100-120mm gap). Like I said, this is just general hearsay, however it does sort of make sense.

my utes got sslz all round bro i got pulled up bi da po po for speedin they checked my ute over they had nada to ping me on bro
I have a VN Sedan that has 18s on it and has rim tuck. It got stickered as i was being a smart arse to the cops at the time and we had an argument as it was crap the newbie in nappies got me for. He was even told off by his superior at the time lol, but anyway, i took it over the pits as it was and passed without a problem.
I was told that it has to pass over a coke can if it has been modified, and as long as the rim or tyre doesn't hit any part of the undercarriage of the car, it's safe. Also if you change your springs you HAVE to change your shocks to suit, otherwise they will not pass it, coz if you go over a bump and you still have the same big shockies in, the risk of your springs falling out in mid air are very real.
But then our VT Senator is extremley low and will in no way pass over a coke can, but that is how it came out of the factory so they can't book us for it.
If your car has been modified that is the legal "lowness" it's allowed.
If it came out of the factory like that, then you don't have a problem.
And i took mine over in Rockingham when i lived there, and ended up calling in the head Inspector from Mandurah coz the guy i took it to was a real mongrel and treated me AND my car like crap.
He is very fair too.

awwsome cheers mate, mine will be able to go over a coke can, only thing is the tyre will hit the rear guard where the bumper joins on...i put some pics up
So you got your vn over, i guessing the shocks is only for the rear then? and it didnt matter about the camber?
i dont mind about yellow stickers from cops cus ive been pulled over and had nothing said to me, its just im worried that if i have a crash my insurance company will turn around and tell me my car is modified and leave me on my own. i called them to tell them about it and they said they dont care wat mods are dont, they dont want to no, but if i make a claim everything thats done has to have a certificate to say it has gotten over the pits...
Cheers for everyones help!!
