Hi guys,
my mate has a vz clubsport i think it is, and it has a tyre pressure monitoring system same as i've seen in some vz senator's. he's had some trouble with one of the sensor's which is located inside the tyre on the valve itself that you pump the tyre up with and apparantely its quite common for them to break from potholes or other things on the road causing a quick rough jolt.
he found out that the sensor is a smartire one, and looking on they're website and contacting some of they're suppliers, they no longer make or distribute sensors for passanger cars... this is going to cause him some problems trying to get another one, and of course if it happens in the future, he's in a lot of deep water!
what i was wondering is my father had a new wm caprice, which had tyre pressure monitoring with sensor's that are simular, but not the same as they are made by schrader. i was thinking maybe i could replace his 4 smartire ones, with the schrader ones from my old man's caprice, as he no longer needs them (he smashed the car, and bought it back as a wreck. rims are sold and valve's weren't sold with them) so i'm just unaware if the schrader brand sensor's would be able to communicate with the vz hsv system, or how the system communicates anyway?
or maybe someone has some old sensor's from the vz hsv's tucked away, or know where you can still buy them maybe? just after some idea's if anybody knows about these system's?
thanks guys, Matt

they should work im pretty sure you have to get them tuned in by holden any way as if you front to rear the wheels they dont change there reading on the dash so there programed in to where they are meant to be so im sure they will be fine these days it would be like asking if a ngk sprak plug can fit where a bosch is
most holden stuff is sae
did you ring HSV?
not as of yet, i just thought if i could give him these sensor's instead of buying 1 at what i imagine would be a rediculous price, thats if they can even still get them it would be better than even bothering to ask hsv.... these schrader one's are a bit smaller too, and sit closer on the rim, so they wouldn't get damaged like the smartire ones apparantely do...
was just a thought, maybe they're not at all compatable - but i can't see holden/hsv telling me if they are... truth is they're not going to give a f*ck now - they've sold him the clubby years ago.

any futher idea's with this yet? i see wheel king advertising some ve e2 hsv valves on ebay saying they're compatable with earlier hsv's and the like, so maybe my wm statesman caprice ones are also? does anyone know if the factory schrader valve's in the wm caprices can display temp's as well? or only pressure's?

Totally different system, not compatible.
Silver Certified.
The WM system only monitors pressure, not temperature. Don't know if the sensor itself is capable of measuring pressure too. Have a look at my post in the VE forum - Schrader have made a universally programmable sensor. If you can find a tyre dealer that has the programming stuff, they should be able to supply a new sensor, programmed to the car.
