how about the heatshields, took mine sv6 190 in so called heatshields to get adjusted, what a joke, stil sounds like a diesal on a cold start, until idle drops down after 2 minutes, dealer said book in for cold start, for a car of this price i expect more from holden.HOLDEN MEANS A GREAT DEAL TO AUSTRALIANS LMAO,not if the quality isnt there.

    Default fuel gauge!

ive been reading in the forums about this fuel gauge fault
is this a result of the misprogrammed instruments that ALLOYTEC is
talking about? if so is it just a case of taking it to holden for reprogramming
    cheers

No, Alloytec wrongly believes that it is a case of V6's receiving V8 software. The largest thread on the VZ forum is about the totally useless fuel gauges and the many, many, many attempted dealer fixes. These have included software upgrades, fuel tank removal and float arm adjustments etc etc. Nothing has worked to-date and Holden apparantly have an engineer on the job but we know not to believe them...!
Aside from that, IMO the ALLOYTEC is about as uninspiring a lump of alloy as you can get, its gutless, lifeless and rough for a modern design. A holden engineer told me that they have had to spend more than they liked on dampening engine vibration as even they were miffed at how rough it runs.
If your looking at a storm, I'd seriously recommend looking at what the opposition have for similar money cos the Holden ain't nothing special. It might have 175kw but someone is telling fibs about the torque. Only exciting thing on the horizon is the blower kit from CAPA. Hopefully that will turn the pig into something half decent...

You are aware that an alloytec makes its power up high and not at 1100rpm (or there abouts) like the ecotec. My SV6 hammers compared to my work station wagon (VY Acclaim)

When u hit a hill with load in the back you can hear the ecotec screaming I CAAAANTTT BREEAAATHHHEEEE!!!!!

And the alloytec is far smoother and refined than the old V6, just about every ecotec is rattle,rattle,rattle..... when its idling in gear.
