    Default Resurfacing dual mass flywheel?

So far, all the places I've called say that machining a dual mass flywheel is impossible. But the guy I bought my clutch off says he knows a guy who can do it. He also mentioned something about shimming the back (engine side ofthe flywheel). Has anyone heard of this being done? Is it practical or safe?

I just don't want to pay upwards of 1500 bucks for a new Holden flywheel.

can be done, not recommended to be done.

buy a conversion kit, that converts to a single mass flywheel and clutch, cheaper for next clutch change, but still around $1500 for a full kit first time round.

That's not the point though. I just got my clutch for $80 from eBay, and it won't fit on any aftermarket solid flywheel, so I'm trying to either find a cheap standard flywheel or machine my origional one. I can't see the point in paying over a grand for something that should cost half that.

good luck finding a cheap standard flywheel. people only buy these to get rid of the dual mass. holden dont make one as far as im aware, theyre aftermarket only.

find someone that will machine your stock one(probably be hard pressed, most dont want to deal with the possible hassle it causes), or sell the kit and bite the bullet. welcome to owning a car with a dual mass flywheel.

its already been said before but.. dont bother replacing the DMFW or getting it machined, they are rubbish and shouldnt be used as a paper weight.

The best mod i ever did was scrapping it for a Xtreme Kit ($1400 fitted if i remember) standard slave cylinder will be fine, save some $$ there..

Ok - to machine a dual mass fly, you need the old clutch and flywheel assembly to emulate. Essentially you measure the "balance" of the old one and then reproduce it with the new after it has been machined. Not an easy process and as others have said, grab a solid fly. You might have to suck it up and get a new clutch to suit. Might be lucky and get some money back onselling it on ebay.
