Hi,
we have a 2004 VZ lumina wagon which we had put on gas after purchasing 3 years ago. It's a liquid injected system (Eurogas). Initially we had problems because the system had been programmed to be gas dedicated whereas it's a dual fuel set up and the gauge has been useless! The installer assured us it was a 'fail-safe' system, nothing needed doing and no probs but we've since discovered this to be so far from the truth. Recently it started stalling whilst running on gas. The alarm that sounds for other problems 'half' sounds and then the car stops. Now not even the alarm goes. It occurs only when the car is warm but not all the time and happens with around the town driving and not highway km's. Once it happens, we have to run the car on petrol until it's completely cold (usually the next day). The mechanics who installed the system had it for a day two weeks back and found no problem with the computer, although they also had trouble hooking it up the the computer which has happened before. We did have to have the spark plugs replaced (they were due) and they said the gas filter (which we never knew it had or required changing) and oxygen sensors needed replacing and hopefully this would fix the problem. So back the car went this week for the spark plugs, gas filter and oxygen sensors but the problem is still there! The next thing on the list that could be causing the problem is the converter but we are slightly deterred in replacing this in the event, it too doesn't fix the problem. The car has 196,000kms on it, approx 70,000kms of these are since going on gas.
Help?
thanks heaps,
Karen
Just bumping up hoping someone might have a thought on this one...
hey mate dont have any idea of whats happening (if the mechanics dont then i got no hope) but i do know that gas seems to prematurely cause issues in most cars. i had a vs on gas/ulp and it too developed the same sort of 'symptoms' that you have described, only after about 40 000.
good luck anyways mate
oh btw, i had issues with how mine was running a few years ago, new converter and it stayed fixed for about 6 mths haha, worth a try?
Thanks trenooo. Another update.....
It is now not running on gas at all, so we're running on petrol. To test the gas, we press the change over button and as soon as it changes it stalls. No warning, nothing. Just great safety, NOT!
100% converter then
