Hi,
I have a 2005 VZ SS. In the last few days, every time I use my remote to lock the car, the horn gives me 4 quick blasts.
The car still locks O.K. but something has upset it.
I looked through the manual but can't seem to find anything that explains this problem.
Does any one know what this is please?
Check to make sure every door is properly closed.
I had a similar problem with the alarm beeping in short bursts and found that the drivers door was not properly closed.
I had to give the door a bit of extra force to get it properly closed.
I think I remember reading in the manual that the 4 quick beeps indicates a fault detected. Could be a door or boot/bonnet slightly open like satos mentioned or an electric fault.
have the same problem mate,my solenoid valve on me door lock doesnt lock me door properly have to get a replacement so check all the locks ant sticking halfway!
Thanks for the replies fellas. This has at least given me something to work with.
All the doors seem to lock without a problem.
I'll take another look to try and find which door is giving me grief.
Cheers
Does it beep once or twice? if so you need to adjust the setting's.
When you first turn the ACC on the menu button comes up, Press the button to enter the menu.
scroll through to the part where it says about door lock/unlock
Horn & Indicators or Indicators only
Select Indicators
problem solved. Let me know if this fixes it

My passenger rear door doesn't always lock fully and sets off the alarm like you mentioned when locking the car.
Its always the same door but doesn't always happen.
Thought it might be weather, maybe rain getting in but it has happened even when it hasn't rained or haven't washed the car for a week or so.
As mentioned earlier may be a faulty solenoid in my door lock, your could be similar problem.

The alarm beeps four times very quickly.
I have rechecked my dash settings and it is set to indicators only, so that's not the problem.
I thought I had made some progress. I found that with the boot lid open that it did not happen.
Well that only lasted for a short time and now it doesn't matter if the boot lid is open or closed, the alarm still goes off.
So now when I press the remote once to lock the car, I get four quick blasts from the horn. When I press the remote the second time
to dead-lock the doors, I get another four quick blasts from the horn.
I have checked the doors after locking the car and they are all locked.
Looks like I'll have to go and get it checked out.
funny enough, i had a similiar incident today and my battery went dead...
I found the suspect to be a faulty door latch, pulled the skin off, Inox 'd the hell out of the hinge etc for the central locking, problem solved.. The culprut to the 4 beeps usually means a door is open or something is not locking/closing correctly. I suggest checking your locks and doors handles etc for fauly actuation and correct functioning

Just to update, I finally found that it is the drivers side rear door not locking that is giving me the 4 horn beeps.
If I lock this door manually by pushing the button down first before I lock the car with the remote, then there is no problem.
I'll now have to pull the the door skin off and see what the problem is.
Seems to be becoming a common little gliche with VT-VZ central locking.

your door is not locking. solenoid needs replacing. $30.00 in sydney
Very cheap way to test if its the locks being sticky, buy some graphite powder (or make some with a pencil) and put it into the lock (cant for the life of me think of the name sorry) work it manually a few times. It should fix itself up. Same happened to my Crewman, my mums Commodore, and my dads Statesman.
It is the actuator playing up. Mine was exactly the same 4 quick beeps of the horn. Rear door not locking.
I took off the door skin and filled the actuator up with some CRC electrical contact cleaner/lubricant. You can make it go in and out manually while spraying it.
Worth a shot, cheaper than a new one.
Hasn't done it now for about a month (touch wood)!
same problem with my car the front passanger door wont lock properly if you lock the door from the inside then turn alarm on works fine. I need to fix lock
Before you go replacing items like solenoids just check the power through the harness to the solenoid, I have replaced 5-6 harnesses in the rear doors of family cars, seem once they get a lot of use they break wires, once again fairly cheap, can buy off the shelf from coventries or anywhere simlar
