Hey I'm knew to this. I just purchased a thunder 6L ute with a few mods. Extractors, 2 1-2 inch stainless steel exhaust. OTR cold air intake, mafless tune, cam upgrade, and valve spring upgrade. What kw would it have roughly? Cheers
Also have 3:9 gear differential. And was wondering what are some good future mods and roughly how much? Cheers
did you get a dyno graph from the mafless tune? if you bought it like that, ask the guy you bought it from for it
none... lol... till you get a dyno graph... they are cheap to get
Is it manual or auto? You could have anywhere from 230-270rwkw. Depends on lots of things really eg. reputable tuner/backyard tuner, cam size..... Maybe if you can find out who tuned it and contact them, they will have your car's tune on file.
Future mods could be heads (~$1-2.5k), blower/turbo/NOS (~$5-20k). What budget do you have in mind and what do you want from the car?
Manual. The guy I bought it from said it had more then 400bhp? Im going to take it to a dyno in the next few months. And all the mods were done by a professional. If it does have roughly 400bhp should I b getting more from the car with the mods coz I can always take it to another mob. I'm currently just using it as a every day driver but I'm planning on upgrading to a ve malloo with in the next couple of years. I could put some photos up if use would like? Thanks for your help
That would be in the 300rwkw ballpark which sounds about right for those mods. Do you happen the know the specs of your cam? In regards to taking it to another tuner, the last tuner may have locked the tune so you may be restricted there (but some tuners can unlock them though). Who did the work on your car?
Um I think it might be called powertorque engines at caboulture which is about 50 minutes from me., that's just off the top of my head. I'm not sure I understand you bravo? Ohk cool I was hoping it was something around that kw mark. Na I don't know much about the specs and engines of cars but do love my holdens. So your saying i could ring them and they'll have it on file? Thanks alot wikky your help is greatly appreciated.
400rwhp is 298.28rwkw according to my calculations.
I misread the brake horse power part. If that's so, the rwkw will be much less. But 300rwkw sounds about right for the mods done. Powertorque have a great reputation. I reckon if you give them a call and tell them you've just bought the car, they'll be able to help you out. Also depending on how long ago the work was done, a tweak of the tune may unleash a few more ponies.
didnt the thunders have the l98 manual depending on cam id say 290-320rwkw
So when I take it to the dyno will it read bhp or rwhp. Or rwkw, kw? What do dynos usually read?
might need a special dyno to measure flywheel hp (they let the car run back down in neutral and measure the internal friction using heaps of complimicated stuff to work it out) , but rwhp is the important number anyways
I'd be estimating a little over 300rwkw (i know that sounds like alot) but the 6l vz were around the 180-200rwkw (260 fw i think) standard anyways?
So you've got ALOT![]()
hey guys so i got power torque to send out the dyno sheet. here are the results.
camshaft- 232-234
exhaust - twin 2.5
manifolds - extractors
induction - OTR
gear 4
power 284rwkw@166kph
torque 758N.M @ 128kph
motive force 1571Lb@ 128kph
So use were pretty close with your figures. i worked it out to be roughly 355kw and bout 500bhp.
cheers
