g'day everyone,
sorry for typing the wall of info but im in a bit of a pickle.
im thinking around christmas time that i might change my standard 2.87 open differential to a 3.46 or 3.7 (what would you's recommend) limited slip differential, i just want to get a ball park price range on the swap + installation whether the diff is on or off the car as i could take the diff out to make it cheaper...i mostly want the gears for acceleration and im also thinking that with the shorter diff gears it may help me when im towing our jetski out of the water, with the extra torque i should be able to pull it out of the water easier right, and go up slowly and have the engine revving abit harder, then trying to pull it out and slip my clutch abit to get it first going then let it right out.
i don't want my revs being through the roof which is why im thinking 3.46's will do the trick, but i plan to run it down the strip so i was thinking that maybe 3.7's will help, but then again, having my engine rev up so quick with 3.7's may mean i will lose time because im changing gears too often in such a short amount of time.
whats everyones thoughts on getting 3.46s or 3.7s being used for towin gup steep boat ramps and a half decent increase in acceleration...if anyone know if a decent price of the gears + installation i'd greatly appreciate it..remembering its from an open 2.87 to 3.46/3.7 lsd.
thanks heaps everyone![]()
