    Default Waxing My VZ

After washing my car this morning I have decided to give it a coat of wax!
I noticed some very light surface scratches and small very light amounts of swirls, since I usually call a detailer to do it for me, I went to Repco to pick up some gear, I was sold some Meguiar's Swirl X and Meguiar's Wax Cleaner Paste.

Apparently I apply the Swirl X to all pannels then use the wax. I was told the Swirl X would remove the scratches and the Cleaner Wax would also assist and leave a nice shinny protective finish.
    Is this all I need?

Since my car is often exposed to sun will this protect it?

it will prtect it if applied regularly as the bottle suggests but for best results u should use a buffer with a foam pad

Scratch X is a good product. I use Meguiar's Gold class liquid wax every three months, great stuff.

Polishes and waxes are extremely expensive and the variety staggering; seemingly a polish and a pad for every conceivable purpose, then some. I can recall 20 years ago a tin of polish would be $7.99. It is now $22.00! On delivery of my car I bought a bottle ("just a bottle of polish — any polish, please!") of Kitten Carnauba wax for the paint and a Maguire Plastex polish for cleaning fine scratches from interior plastics (which works a treat). Otherwise, car wash clean-ups after long trips through gunk, with a wax there too. I really can't get the paint to be more striking and "in your face" than it is (HSV Red Hot Stinger Red I think it's called).

Remember that swirls are caused my extremely tiny grains of dirt embedded in cloths or whatnot used for polishing. So you'd need a mightily clean cloth, never dropped or thrown around and stored in a plastic bag between uses. I'm not too concerned about swirls given the brutal nature of the normal road driving environment (stone chips are more of a concern, though I have none yet).

also use a clay bar to get rid of dust particles before you use swirl X. you shouldve got scratch X instead, as it gets rid of swirls aswell. but swirl X if fine. post up some pics of the finish product after!

Well I spent all day waxing and polishing and it looks amazing!! Just as good as it does when I pay my detailer to do it! The Meguiar's Cleaner wax was great so was the Swirl X you could notice a difference instantly!! Thank's for the help, will take some photos tomorrow and try to upload them!
