hey guys how ya going.
was reading soem stuff the other day and having a think. now please correct me if im wrong cuz from what iv read it seems like the only difference between the 190 and 175 versions of the alloytec engine is that they have changed the settings of the vvt on the 190 to a slightly slower cam point? meaning that past 3k rpm when the valve timing swaps over they have a slightly different setting so that it can rev a bit higher therefore getting a higher power figure in the end?
im probably talking crap but no1 has seemed to be able to answer this for me at workshops etc and the answer is probably right infront of my face. anyways thanks in advance for any help u can provide in clarifying my head haha
i think that the 175 does not have variable valve timing on the inlet side, only exhaust, where as the 190 has both
ah really? ill have to try and find some more block articles. this may make me seem like i know nothing bout dohc, and compared to some ppl here i dont, but how can u have a different timing on inlet and outlet? dont they have to be matching eachother to fit into the cycle properly? u can tell me to gtfo and look at wikipedia if u want but im just curious lol
o wow ty thats a very handy link, sorry for reposting old stuff
its all good man...
