Gear Box Issues. '05 executive

hey all,

this is my first post here, so please be kind.
I have just recently been having some issues with my auto gearbox and was wondering if any one had some advice. Specifically there is a large delay between gear shifts at higher rev's like the clutch is being left out for way too long if it were a a manual.
I was thinking about taking it to a transmission person to have a look but dont know what to expect and just wanted to see if anyone had encountered a similar problem.

how many k's has it done?
I find it is better to ease off the throttle a bit to allow it to change to the next gear then nail it again.
