Default Vz Sv6 or Calais ?

    Hey guys ,

Ive been thinking its time for an update from the vs

and Ive sorta narrowed it down to 2 sorta cars

Ether the VZ sv6 or calais v6 (still on P plates)

Which is better then the other ?
I know that they have like the same 190kw engine and that

but what would people choose based on the 2 ?

depends on budget, needs etc, if you can source an sv6 with all the fittings of a calais then go for that, sv6 has stiffer suspension and spoiler etc if your after that

depends what you want it for, for more luxury, get the calais because it has all the nifty things like climate control etc. if performance, id look elsewhere than a vz...

Not really after leather seats or duel zone climate control , so there not really a big deal

    More oriented to performance

Btw , will be getting a raptor kit or turbo for it when P's are up so thats a factor to play too

there is no real performance difference that i know of other than suspension wise, so it comes down to whether you are looking for the extra luxuries from the calais, or to save money with the sv6

before you settle down on the trusty old alloytec i suggest you speak to those who have tried modifying them.. a lot of money has been spent with very little reward, if your chasing super peformance, take my word for it, there are better motors to be spent on... i know no one like to hear it, me also, but get a V8 first up! better bang for buck.

This also includes the raptor kit. qouted 235kw lucky to find 200kw. You will be chasing your tail...

out of the two sv6 or calais, spend the $$ on a calais, having owned a sv6 myself, i think the calais are much more luxury, unless u want manual, yet again, the manual gearbox aint to crash hot either lol...

If its performance i say SV6 but the calais is such a classy car!! get the better headlights/tailights n chrome trims. Interior is heaps nicer too!! I wuld think the SV6 is slightly faster as its abit lighter?? correct me if im wrong. But wuldnt spend too much on it. Better to get a fast car in the first place like v8 or Xr6 Turbo, which is my next move.. but ye just got that p plate restriction..

id defo go the calais. its the sv6 with luxury. minus the spoiler and fe2. my mate has the vz sv6 manual and ive got the vz calais auto. both silver. both on superlows. they both handle the same and even tho the sv6 is 50kg lighter the 5 speed auto in the calais is slightly quicker in a straight line only due to the perfect gear changes by the computet. ya cannot beat it. take a calais for a drive ull be very dissapointed with the sv6 then.

You get far more power out of an Ecotec if I'm correct. Alloytec mods are still in they're infancy and still nothing amazing has surfaced.

Trent, mate of mine has a VZ SV6 - fully optioned. Very nice car, stiff and rugged to drive and is fairly quick, but as said before the Alloytec's still have a long way to go before real power can be drawn out of them. I'd chuck TT or a raptor/L67 in the VS if you want power. If you want a new car and the better out of the two, I'd get the SV6.

N/A Alloytec vs N/A Ecotec, i think the ecotec would have to have some mods to beat it...

Out of the two I'd go calais as I personally think they look real nice. But if you are really after power in the future just save your coin muck around with some mods on your VS and buy an 8 when you get off your P's.

My vote is with the Calais for sure. Just an all around nicer car IMO. Comfier and more equiped interior, more features and toys, nicer bodykit and styling (head/tail lights and front bar make a massive difference), smooth auto. Just all around a nicer car to be in than the SV6 I think. When I was buying about a year ago I looked at both and ended up going with the Calais. The SV6 just seemed a bit like the cheap option.

See Below. Obviously stock they perform better. But the Ecotec has an entire market of proven, tested, developed mods which can rack up serious numbers. And you can get serious performance out of the old Cast Iron workhorse. The alloytec is still in it's infancy. Whether it will ever pull the same numbers is a different story.

Smart choice, why waist money now on something that you most probably will want to upgrade as soon as you get off your P's.
Put that extra money to good use by starting a weekly savings account for your after P's car.
