I don't know about the VZs but on VT-VX you can get the stronger struts to suit the heavy Clubsport spoiler, maybe same?

yeap there are generally 2 gas struts available for commodore boots, 1 to suit spoiler and 1 to suit no spoiler, get a pair to suit spoiler.

Before i removed my spoiler i replaced the struts for spoiler and it would just pop ajar, after the spoiler was removed it used to open right up on its own. they'll be in need of replacing soon.

Just curious.......when you press the boot release button (standard vz sv6) should the boot lid just unlock and stay down basically like it's closed or should it actually rise up and open a little?

    (Mine stays down)

Mine stays down as well. The very first few pops after installing struts made for spoilers it went up about about 3/4s the way on its own. After a few goes it just stays down when you pop it, dont know if that has anything to do with my rear end being lower though usually the struts getting worked in.

Bloody strong though, takes a bit to slam your boot shut lol.

the only proper solution is to find out (research) the current rated psi of the struts then ask a strut supplier/reseller if there is a stronger rated one with the same diamentions.

i do remember that some suppliers can presurise them to suit your needs but it may cost you a little more. i cant remember the companys thou sorry.

Wouldn't have the torque to move the boot IMO.

just remember if you put in a strut thats stronger than standard, the boot will seem heavier/ harder to close...
you also run the risk of bending the mounting brackets..

pneumatic wont work unless you plan on running a compressor... kinda silly just to open your boot imo
to do the job right will be some big $$$, and not just a couple of hundred...

one way to do it... have a timer thats started by a signal from the remote unlock, set to 5 seconds or so then after the 5 seconds the linear actuators operate to open the boot...
(5 seconds or so to allow the boot unlock mechanism to work).
then you would somehow have another button and receiver setup to tell the boot to close... you could use a seperate remote, like an aftermarket remote unlock setup to send the signal to open and close...

SMC linear actuators are around $740 each from RS

another way is to chuck in a decent spring

Bloody hell mate, your going to a lot of trouble for a self-opening/closing boot.
