    Default VZ V6 exhaust system.

hey ive gotta stock VZ V6 exhaust system,

would like to know whats the best or good sounding exhaust system, ive been told tat a twin 2.5" is to big for a 6 it is not supercharged, and i have also been suggested a 2.25 twin with 2" tailpipes, a twin 2.5" into a single 2.5" and also sounds great with extractors, and ive also been suggested a twin 2.25" into a twin 2.5" also works well on a 6.

whats best for sound that isnt too loud but sounds great, an doesnt lose back pressure?

any help would be great, thanks!!

Exhausts are unlimited, it all depends on what you want to do.. Loud, Quiet, Drone etc... try something and if you dont like it.. modify it untill u get what you want... from what i understand, you want your exhaust to be flowing to gain power.. the quicker the exhaust gasses get out the better?

prob because urs is a 175 kw, id recommend single 2.5. if it were an sv6, maybe a dual system. other people will tell you otherwise. all depends on what you like, have a look on youtube and find some sound clips u like

why would it matter what badge is on it?

If the engine is the same displacement then the same logic applies.

the v6 is 175kw and the sv6 is 190kw so the engine wouldn't be the same displacement would it?

yeeah ive been quoted different exhaust from alot of different people, a mate told me his mate has a twin 2.5" into a single 2.5" and sounds real nice, so im either looking at that or a twi 2.25 into a twin 2.5" would that be good? naah dont want it to be heaps loud or heaps quiet, i had a VN exec with a single 2.5" redback catback system and i reckon that sounded nice so want something loudish but not real loud. so many options but not sure wat sounds good and all videos on youtube are sv6's hardley are exec

hey mate, even for a cheaper option. i just cut my rear muffler out and replaced it with a straight pipe. doesnt drone at all, and it sounds pretty good at around 2500-5000rpm

i have also heard an sv6 with the stock system, but cutting the front mufflers off and replacing them with straight pipes, and adding a smaller rear muffler. sounded alright.

When did the 3.0ltr V6 come into production?
    I thought all the VZ's were 3.6ltr DOHC v6's.

It'll be the tune that makes the difference in the power output. Not how big the motor physically is. Though that does help.

Displacement is what you take into account when choosing the exhaust size (among other things), not current power output. Because clearly that relies on quiet a few variables.

    VE Omega's have a 3.0ltr v6.

    Did the VZ executives?
Or did they get the 3.6?

The VZ Alloytec was produced as a 3.6 litre producing 175kw. The SV6 was also 3.6 litre Alloytec although because of some mechanical refinements they produced 190kw

The VE when first released also had an Alloytec 3.6 litre that produced 180 and 195kw respectively.

The VE Series 2 (the S.I.D.I.) a 3.0 litre, produces 190kw (standard) and the uprated SV6 has a 3.6 litre engine that produces 210kw

what would you guys recommend with my exhaust system then? I wanna get extractors oneday but mostly looking at a nice sounding note,

What would you guys recommend between a twin 2.25" catback, or a twin 2.25" catback into a twin 2.5" or a twin 2.5" into a single 2.5"?

i have a twin 2.5" aluminium exhaust straight through and i really like my exhaust note. It is quiet when just cruising or on the highway but when the foot is down, it opens up really nicely with a nice bit of crackle on the rev back down
oh, and i forgot to include that i have a VZ V6 exec...

    Heads are aluminium.......

To answer the OP, there are a lot of different systems people fit to the VZ's, some work, most don't. Having said that, most people don't care what an exhaust does, just how it sounds (because we all know noise equals power).

My recommendation is a twin 2 1/4" into single 3". It keeps exhaust velocity up as the gases cool and changes your usable torque to a wider rev range. $495 shipped to anywhere in Aus.
