    Default Clunky Transmission

    Hey guys.
I was driving my 2006 VZ the other day and i suddenly noticed that it has a very noticeable clunk in the transmission between gears 1 and 2.
It is hardly noticeable between gear 3 and 4 which makes me think that it maybe the transmission and not the diff.
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    Thanks.

It seems to be a known issue unfortunately (known by everyone except Holden of course :P), there are several things that people on here have tried to get rid of it (replacing shift solenoids, transmission fluid etc). It only happened to me a few times and went away after I stopped the car and turned off the ignition, but it hasn't occurred at all since having the car tuned.

    Hope that helps

Yeap Phyco you were right, the next time i drove the car the problem had gone away.
it only started happening last time when i had it in power mode for a while. could this have cause it?
sorry if this is a dumb question but i only got the car a day ago and know nothing about holdens ( i was a ford person untill i drove the VZ and now i will never go back)
    Thanks again.

You running the auto or manual version, if its manual you get used to it. It is basically a rough box, it will even play up between 3-4 sometimes (wont go into gear) but you will learn to work around it and wont notice it much.

You can always go try an assortment of mods to fix it, I use a racing clutch that is designed to slip slightly upon gear changes (so you can drop the clutch) which helped a little but honestly I wouldnt recommend that course of action.

He is running an Exec according to his signature, AFAIK they were only released as Auto.

Glad to see, at least you don't have some kind of freaky separate issue that none of us know about. I run mine in 'Power Mode' all the time, as I prefer the higher shift points; so this should not be an issue.
