    Default ticking noise

hi guys i got the car serviced today which included oil, filter, spark plugs and new plenum gasket plus gearbox fully serviced now when i got home in my garage i noticed a ticking noise that wasn't there before the service now the noise sounds like its coming from around the top side or side of the motor on the drivers side i ve rules out exhaust gasket as it wasn't touched also seems to be misfiring so i am wondering what the g.o is cheers

i would first check all plug leads are conected properly as if not spark has to jump across and can cause a ticking sound

hi marcus vz alloytech doesnt have leads just coil packs i reckon it could be a slightly loose sparkplug but they insist it could be a bit of sludge on the lifter from changing the oil or maybe the oil is too thin that they use

Often cars that are driven gently have this issue, do you ever give it a bit of stick? A few runs up to redline every now and then helps clear things out.

Also, oil additives are best avoided at all costs.

just started it and boy it ran like shit anyone would think it had a lumpy cam in it as it was rocking side to side almost sounding like it was dieing,Getting real worried now as my problems have o ly came since the service last week it was a very smooth car to drive no noises just perfect. There is no errors or anything hmmm got it booked in tomorow to get the diff oil changed abd the get the fuel system cleaned but i am going to get them to fix the rough idle and knocking that they have caused from servicing

ok had the car checked at auto leaders today they found that all was in place so sounds like the ticking is a sticky lifter that should go away with nulon lifter free. Also got a full fuel system service done minus the filter and it has made the car idle alot better to the point where i cant tell if the car is running also got the diff oil changed new oil and filter and gearbox service so gave her a boot full today and felt very responsive just annoyed that is raining and cant test her properly lol
