Hey. So I have a bog standard Executive and want to replace the ugly sounding horn that comes with it to something that sounds a little more manly. The current one sounds like it's off a scooter. Any suggestions? Could I go to a wrecker somewhere and find one from a Clubby or something that sounds more the part and plug it straight in?
I bought a pair of air horns from Supercheap recently and fitted them but they sounded pretty crappy too and didn't suit the car either, they sounded like something that should be in a fooly sik souped up skyline bro. And they lasted one whole month before the relay died and I really can't be bothered replacing it.
I think clubby may have the same, unless its an R8, anyway, try getting a horn set off a calais or statesman/caprice. They might have 2 individual horns though, so you will have to bolt on and wire both of them up.
Spot on, the Commodore horn range is the same the whole way through, but what makes them difference is the Exec has 1 horn whereas other models like Stato/Caprice have "dual horns", where one runs at a low frequency and one at a high frequency, so combined they make an ear-piercing beep.
This is the same as whats fitted to cop cars so they can blast the horn and be heard.
Can't say I've had a cop car blare its horn at me, usually they just flash their lights behind me
Thanks for the advise.. i read (after searching, duh) there might be a seperate wiring harness on the passenger side which I'll check for and if so order the hi/low horns from a wrecker or holden.
Well I checked and lo and behold there was the harness. So I went to Ralph D'Silva and they were asking $72 per horn and were really unfriendly so I went off to a local wrecker. He had both low and high horns and charged me $20 for the pair which was pretty good. Had them installed in 20 minutes, they sound great. Heres a sample:

i put 06 subaru outback horns on, sound so good. my berlina has great horns as well.
i do as the voices tell me
