PRND43L Lights only work in Park

The PRND43L lighting works when selector is in Park but stops working when I put it into gear (any gear)
What is causing this?
How can I fix it? Detailed instructions if advising how to fix this please as I've never done anything with the console before.

Cause could be: faulty connection, bad earth, or globe has been displaced from it's holder. Fix: remove centre console and repair/replace globe or component(s).

Actually, the centre console does not need to be removed, to access the auto transmission position indicator light, although I concur that it sounds like the lamp may have been dislodged from the holder.

Fingers crossed it is just the trans position indicator light 'cos from what I've read the console is a real pain to remove (is it or not?) and thanks for the instruction sheet bcw61, I'll get onto it in the morning providing this rain p.o's.
