Default VZ Dash Conversion into LX Torana

    Hey guys,

Has anyone got the pinouts for a VZ SS Dash cluster, the SRS and ABS pin's and inputs in particular??? I did find a few pinout diagrams on here but none show the ABS or SRS.

Im currently doing a complete VZ SS dash conversion into an LX torana, I have the dash on the bench and have it all powered up, indicators, high beam, dash lights, seat belt warning lights ect ect ect all working fine, but can't get past the contact dealer screen and can't get the ABS or SRS warning lights to go off. As far as I know the fault codes for the SRS are stored in the SDM, so not requiring the dash to be reset or faults cleared ect.

And just to add to the confusion i've got a VY SS harness (NOT VZ), although I was told it couldn't be done and won't work, with a little patience i've got to the stage im at now, just need to find out the SRS pin number and input and hopefully we'll be away.

    Any help much appreciated

    Cheers

    Les

there is no individual pins for alot of it.

SRS, ABS, temp gauge, engine light, and all that sort of stuff, is controlled via CANbus.

all the parts of the car 'talk' to the instrument cluster, and 'tell' it to turn on lights, move gauges etc.

only way to get the light to turn off would be to dismantle the dash, and cut/slice/disconnect the track on the PCB that goes to the lights.

thanks mate, I've done a little more research and found out a bit of info on the ALDL which i think is how all these functions, SRS, ABS, temp gauge, engine light ect "talk" to the cluster via CANbus. According to a few diagrams I have this is a (Gr-w) wire which connects to pin 2 in the instrument cluster, Can anyone confirm this? Is there any others that it may use aswell?

The actual lights aren't a drama I can disconnect them, but I can get past the contact dealer screen on the dash, Is this because the dash in not communicating with an ECM? or because it thinks it has and airbag/abs fault.

Im using an E38 ECM and have a harness made to start and run the engine from LSX conversions, Now can I join into the ALDL pin/wire from the E38 and connect this to the ALDL wire from the dash?

    cheers

    Les

wow man, crazy build this is awsome. However I don't think you will be able to get past the contact dealer/abs/srs errors without the propper ECM and BCM that are coded to the dash. Like has already been said the system works off CanBus. These systems are also not designed to be recoded in such a way to bypass the dealership errors, as far as I'm aware anyway. I would however imagine that with a smart computer tech you may be able to "hack" into it and recode it, but i don't think it's going to be as easy as "connect BCM and ECM and code to turn off all errors". Fuel guage and I'm pretty sure Temp as well are also controlled by CanBus. BTW the ECM talks to the BCM via another module called the PIM (or Powertrain Interface Module), which will probably also be required.

As interesting as a project this is, and I hope it all works out for you, I just don't think it's possible without several modules all from the same model programmed to each other. It's not as simple as "earth this wire" .

    Good luck though man ey.

whoohoo just got the big girl fired up again finally, with dash and eveything in place and nearly fell over when i looked at the tacho and it was sitting on 8oorpm I had lost all hope of getting them working, just have to test out the speedo and if that works i'll be a very happy camper as that'd be enough to get it registered and then may be able to sort out the other gauges and stuff later on.
