Dash Icons and what the hell they mean....?

Got a service warning or what ever on the dash of my VZ Crewman,a picture of an oil can and the word service?
Now to me that said check the engine oil?nah it's good,and if you look at the owners manual it only shows an oilcan not the word service,which means check oil or the oil pressure may be low.
It is due to be serviced at 161K's and just clocked over the 160K's coming home last night,and I am wondering is it a reminder for the impending service,mind you last time it just said service not the picture of the oil can?
Anybody shed any light on these as the owners manual is a tad sparton on answers.

yea its just a service reminder. usually comes on about 1000km before a service is due. havent noticed whether mine has or doesnt have the oil can. from memory low oil comes up in the same way but says check engine oil or something like that.

Thanks Keeny,I ended up ringing a dealer in Taree as we don't have any dealer here,and yup it's just a reminder,but the last time it came up as a spanner,that was why I was concerned a little,because it looked more like a low oil warning than anything else.

If it said Service Vehicle Soon with the oil can it has thrown a trouble code, more than likely the oil pressure sensor has died.

RiCeY it goes thru it diagnostic system checks and comes up all ok,the dealerreckons it is just the service reminder since it is due.

The dealer's retarded. The purpose of that message is to let you know that there's an issue that needs to be looked at. If it was simply a service reminder it could be cleared easily. Service reminders flash the service that is due on ing on and ign off for eg 20,000kms will flash on the screen.

diagnostic system check will only check for HARD codes and if all MAIN ecu's are talking to eachother
then you start the car and if the codes is only present when car running (e.g. oil pressure sensor) then the display will come up

the service reminder is different to "service vehicle soon" which is set by a dtc IN THE engine ecu
just reset the service reminder then turn it off and start it again and see if anything comes back up

if is dtc in vz likely its a oil pressure sensor fault
normally with this fault there will be oil on the terminals and on the wiring connector
as they leak past the actual sensor part onto the harness and so not all pressure is meausured at the sensor(cause it leaks)
