I've recently bought a VZ SV6 2004 model and only after getting the car home last night (bought it yesterday) i looked under the hood and happened to notice a particular hose looks to be split a little.
Unfortunately i have no idea what it is or is for except from what i can tell by touching it a bit it it taking air in one direction or another and it appears to be connected to the intake.
Can someone please take a look at the attached pic that i have marked in red what hose this is, whats its for and the specifics so i can go and buy a replacement and get it swapped before the split becomes a problem.
Also i've noticed when braking if i'm going around 50km (below this it does not do it), the steering wheel shudders/shakes a fair bit.
The wheel alignment seems to be the slightest bit off (was not noticable on my first 2-3 drives), could this be the cause? Any ideas? Suggestions?
Cheers Guys.
I got the same with the hose
I got the same with the hose, do you have a loud scraping in your engine?
Regarding the braking, most likely either your pads or rotors need replacing/machining (if the rotors are significantly worn they cant' be machined they will need to be replaced) OR also a possibility, but less likely, is that you have busted a radius rod bush or two and the wheel is being able to vibrate backwards and forwards repetitively under braking.
Hose is just an oil breather.
Need a part number? PM me.
Luke.
My vz had that hose split which actually caused it to not run. A bit of duct tape and 30 seconds and it was fixed

pretty sure the brakes are the culprit of the shuddering. if they need machining/ replacing, id suggest you buy some slotted RDA ones, they end up being cheaper to buy yourself and fit yourself then to take your car to somewhere to get the brakes machined and pads changed
A quick fix (which we've all done) eventually leads to a rougher idle I think and weird engine gulps over time........ I'm getting a replacement myself soon........ they are about $72 at holden, you have to buy the whole section that goes under the manifold with it etc.

Elec tape it up and she'll be fine for another 100,000km.. as for the replacement plastioc piping BDC, the rubber off the end pulls off and can be replaced... but for $72 for the whole lot, i would be taping it up or visiting the wreckers

Well in regards to the hose, i spoke to the dealer i got the car from and he said he will get it fixed on Saturday for me at no charge. (which is great as i have only had the car since Thursday afternoon).
I might mention the braking too, hopefully he can fix it aswell.
The shuddering occurs when going around 50KM or more and if i have Traction Control on its 10x worse.
I've been told from a friends dad and a friend of mine the pads are fine and but the discs feel slightly worn.. and could possibly be the rotors, I'm not mechanically inclinded so have no idea.
discs and rotors are the same thing, if the pads are new and the rotor's arent the shuddering could be the two not 'bedded' in together or worn together, mine did it when i replaced my pads, but only for the first few km's was it noticable.. they soon bedded together and it is awesome now!

Oh ok, hah yeah my bad, i need to get with the lingo :P
Well so far since i got the car on Thursday i've done over 200k in it and the issue has been apparent the whole time. (been back and forth to the central coast from Newcastle twice and to work on Friday).
Don't know if its been said yet, But mine has done it, my mums has done it. We just fixed it with some liquid plastic rubber shit. ( don't know what its called. ) Fixed the problem.
Also with the breaks, most likely the rotors, Mine done it real bad, and I fixed that with new rotors and pads.
The dealer is getting their mechanic to fix the hose free of charge on Thursday.
The mechanic is also going to have a look at the Shuttering issue for me, which i am pretty certain now (from help in here and some friends) that its the brakes.
I have priced some brake pads and rotors from GSL, does anyone know of any decent places in Newcastle that aren't expensive to get new brake pads, rotors and install them?
GSL do good brakes, i recently replaced pads with the QMF HPX Police Spec Fronts and Rears, really worth it.. saved me a few times on the way down from Townsville, Kangaroo's are pretty bad... I reccomend them and thier prices are decent for good brakes

Bloody dealer's mechanic shafted me with the replacing of the hose and brake checks.. i originally said i NEEDED a courtesy car and it to be auto, they said that was fine (when i booked it with them) and then i got there Wednesday afternoon and the mechanics stated they only had a really dodgy old Ford Falcon in Manual, so i was stuffed.
Got a couple of questions in relation to to features of the car.
Is there any way at all to have the power windows automatically close if the doors are closed and you use the remote locking on the key?
This would be handy for particular situations where i have had a full car load with all windows down i could just get out, close the doors, press Lock and the windows wind up.
This might sound lazy to some but hey. I've had circumstances where we've had to be in a huge rush and waiting for the windows to close and then lock the car.
Also, for some odd reason, i cannot find any Options to change the Horn to sound upon lock/unlock and Indicator Light options, etc for the Alarm system in the Options menu, it cycles through some options but not all that are in the Manual for it (not even half of).
Also, is there any way the Alarm system can be upgraded for tilt and shock instead of simply its current 'opening door' trigger. (eg. someone could crack the window, climb in, get what they find and crawl back out window with the alarm going off)
As for the options I'm guessing u have an aftermarket headunit.. The standard h/u stores info for a lot of them, u take it and it is gone.
The windows, prior preparation... If u r in a hurry wind the windows uP before u stop, seems like a waste if moolah to me.
Alarm, aftermarket....

Really? Would removing the head unit remove any and all changeable options for the Alarm? That sound kind of retarded if you ask me.
Does anyone know if aftermarket ECU can give access to these other options (which appear standard on VZ's)
There would have to be some other way to have access to these options except for putting the original and limited head unit back in.
Shouldn't affect the alarm... Aftermarket ecu won't allow these options either if anything it will limit your options further and cost an arm and a leg.. But the tuning benefits are good...

Hmmm well thats odd then, i have no options to be able to change in regards to the Alarm.
Neither do I or anyone else, what do you want to change? Aftermarket alarms are pretty good

i have an aftermarket head unit and i have not lost a single option in the menu (mode button on start up).
