Default What did you pay for your Service?

    Hi,
Just put my VZ ute (175) in for it's 15,000km service and got charged $227.00.
Is this price the norm and what are some of your prices that you have been charged?

Same price for my V8 service at 10000kms.
Loads of checks??? I had an oil/filter change at 3000 and that cost $65 only. Go figure

Mate, make sure you get it all in writing about the 3 yrs free servicing, I know someone who brought a holden from same dealership. In short it was all void when mods were made to motor.

50,000km service on my VYII SS was $125.00 from the local mechanic from around the corner. Found him a couple of years ago - good "old fasioned" mechanic who does a propper job. eg brakes need replacing when brakes need replacing as opposed to "we want to make some money so all cars today need new brakes".

That's the way to go IMO..Some reputable places these days, can service your car without voiding your warranty, logbook services.

my VY berlina goes in next week for 60k service, local delaership reckons $195... what do you guys reckon...normal or expensive. Havent checked handbook yet to see what they have to do, but I wouldnt think 60k would be a major service

Took my ute in today for 10,000 service and repair fuel guage.(already been in once for this)
Got charged $211 for what is pretty much just an engine oil and filter change. Didnt even attempt the fuel guage and to top it all off left 2 nice scratches on 1 side of my car.

Might I add, this nice work was done at Bunbury Holden so if your in the south west of WA be sure to avoid them.

dealers always walk around the outside of the car and mark every single little scratch and dent on a piece of paper. if you are 100% sure they did it go and tell them and ask to see the pre service inspection papers*

    * they may not call them pre service inspection papers but its the only way i could discribe them

Pretty sure they didnt do an exterior inspection on my car. There is a section for it on my receipt and they havent filled it out. I know the scratches werent there before anyway.
Anyway, they were only minor and after a bit of polishing they can only just be seen in certain light. Lucky for them.

Got my SV6 serviced yesterday ... 15000km ... about $225 for the service ... $60 for a wheel alignment (it seems the previous owner was a gutter-basher) & $40 to get a new key head programmed.
I also got a quote to supply & fit reverse sensors does $653 fitted sound alright?

Just put our sv6 in for the 15000 service today and the alingnment on the front wheels is out by tyre wear. Apparently these need a 4 wheel alignment which is being done been quoted $53 for all 4 wheels to be done. So ARM-SV6 the previous owner may not have been a gutter basher. Had this one from new and have'nt done anything to cause alignment to be out so its seems like it may be a possible fault that may be strarting to occour. Also their charging $173 for the service $39 for emmission service and $25 for the balancing and rotating.

If you have a local mechanic you're on good terms with, that won't void your warranty.. get it done by them. My mechanic does a minor service at about $120, and a major service at $170. That includes all the standard servicing, rotation of tyres, AND windscreen wiper inserts heh

Yep i think thats the solution. He lives 2 streets from home and will pick up my car and drop it off to me at home for no extra charge ..... and gives me the invoice and says come down anytime the next few days to fix it up
He OWNS the place and has run it for 20 years and he has 3 mature mechanics. Most importantly I trust that he does everything he says. He actually commented that the spare on my car has a 80km speed limit sticker on it ..... so it proves he winched it down under the ute

The bloke infront of me at Holden today was having a bitch at the $38 wiper blade inserts !!

Just the engine oil for a VZ is expensive, its meant to run on the thin 10-30W stuff and by the time you put 6.5L of that in its about $45-50 even if you buy it yourself on sale. The old Ecotech just has normal 20/50W which is cheaper.
