    Default Alloytec Engine Removal

what are the best points for lifting the motor out?
I currently have the auto gearbox attached. Is it best to lift the lot or remove the gearbox separately?

    Default Engine Out

    Update.

There are two M10 bolt bosses at the front left (looking from the front of the car) and two at the back right. I manufactured a couple of plates, bolted them in and connected to an Engine leveller with chain and D shackles. I lifted the engine and gearbox out without many problems. The hardest part was getting the gearbox past the steering rack. I had a floor jack under the end of the gearbox and as I lifted the engine, I raised the rear of the gearbox. It was a bit touch and go with tight clearance at the top rear of the motor. In the end, it was not real hard, only messy. Fluids everywhere.

Keep box in vehicle, drop motor/steering rack, by using a hoist lift the vehicle, only takes a day to do this and swap motors.

Yes. I have pulled out many RWD engines, and find it an ass load easier to take the lot out.

But then also No, I have never taken the ALLOYTEC out.

Not to mention if you just take the engine out, you have to struggle to get the torque converter back on to the box. recently changed a 4l60E with the motor still in, and it was a absolute bitch.
