Angry SV8 Hard to start/Performance issues

    G'day all

I've recently bought an SV8 and have an annoying problem. When I start her up (Hot or cold) she winds over for about 8 seconds then finally starts.

After this I usually get the annoying "Low fuel" beep/message along with a rough idle and a couple of times she has stalled when de-celerating.

I had this problem with my '03 VY II V6 when I let the key off too early, but never had to hold the key on for more than a couple of seconds, not 8.

When it is cold I can (Usually) get here to start straight away by turning the ignition on and starting after the system check "OK" message comes up.

When hot it is a lot more difficult, but I can usually jag it when the initial "System Check" message appears. Here is the most annoying problem:

I'm not impressed by the power so far, but after the 8 second start it is shocking. I would literally blow the doors off this in my standard VY II V6.

The standing starts with my foot to the floor are disgusting, it has no torque and generally disappoints me. Traction control is always off.

If I jag the start straight away it runs well, revs hard and the torque is there. I expected more but it's faster than my old VY.

Any ideas? It does not miss or knock, has no leaks, coolant is still good with no oil or water in it. Just the starting problem and subsequent power loss.

On another note is there a way to reset the "Protected" mode when some tool has tried to do a brakie with TC on? Can't remember what it's called lol.

Sounds like it might be fuel related.
Fuel pump failing, blocked line or filter and or low pressure.

Yeah she's booked into the dealer tomorrow morn so should come under the pox used car warranty. Is there a way to reset the "Abuse mode" or does it reset when you turn the car off?

Hopefully the shocking acceleration lag is caused by the fuel pump because a v6 alloytec has no trouble keeping up with the sv8, right up to 80kph. So disappointed to say the least.

Sucks to buy a v8 and want to grab a cam, headers, matless exhaust and tune 2 days after I get it just to improve power

The anti-abuse parameters can be modified or negated using tuning software such as VCM Suite.

Filth, cheers mate. Would love that torque down low through gears, and definately not going to get the tune I want at the dealer. I do a more thorough service anyway so not worried bout the 3 month used warranty, after the fuel issue is resolved that is

Did I mention I picked it up at a Ford dealership? The reason I have it booked in today is because the rear shock rubbers are buggered, now a fuel problem and needs tuning...

Didn't miss the irony but I've had some pretty shonky work done by Holden too. As pathetic as the warranty is I'm actually skeptical about voiding it yet, for a few weeks anyway.
