Who's done a 6000k HID kit and any suggestions where to buy? Is the kit for the high, low beam and fogs? And wot are those protectors I hear about? Any input would be great
Firstly, what is it for? If it's for an SV6 or an executive which both DON'T have projector lenses, all you're going to do is get yourself flashed from oncoming traffic.
If it's an SS or something with projector headlights:
Commodore VY VZ H9 H11 XENON HID KIT 6000K Low +Hi Beam (eBay item 130478093696 end time 23-Mar-11 17:16:49 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats
oh wow thats pretty cheap. i was thinking a few hundred lol. um yea its an ss. so i just plug and play yeah?
Well I had a set in the high beam of my last car, and they were pretty much plug and play. I did have to put a hole in the bulb covers on the back of the headlights so i could poke the wiring through.
I have a set of the ones I linked to you on their way for my ute.
if you do put them on standard lights, make sure u adjust them so that you dont blind people, and it will also keep you out of mr popo's books too
I bought one of them cheap ones... I keep blowing the ballest on either side. So If you see a VZ with 1 bright blue headlight around brisbane. It's probably me.
There is a site that you can buy a full kit ( proper projectors and HID kits but you have to drill and cut into your headlight to modify it. ) It's $300 from memory.
Other wise no one flashes me. On another note, Don't get 6000K go a lower colour temp. 4300K is the best one, or even 5000K if you want a really white light.
6000K is too blue IMO.
cheers for the input. hmm im re thinking of gettin them now lol. not keen on cutting into the lights. 5000k looks like the go. also does that kit include the fog lights or are they separate?
You don't have too. I haven't with mine and never get flashed. Took about 30 mins to install.
It's so much better than the standard.
As stated they are far from ideal on non projector headlights.
If you are detemined to install some, make sure they have the proper metal shrouds (low beam). Not just painted on deflectors- these are probably the ones you see getting around blinding people.
Don't bother with the bi-xenon units. These work even worse than single beams on standard lights. Some might disagree.
i got one of these kits very easy, one of the ballasts were broken so they sent me another free on charge
Just installed my set of those ones I linked you too - they come with slim ballasts so they're easy to hide also.
There you go. They're about the same brightness as stockers, but they're a bluey-white colour.
i got 4300k in my ss and so far have never been flashed and when a cop pulled me over one day they didnt say anything about them
