So I was on the way taking my brother in law and friends daughter to school.
Some guy was infront of me doing 50KPH in a 60KPH zone. So It was just hit a double lane and I moved to the right lane to overtake ( he stayed in the left ) as I got half way past his car ( my Front left QP to his right A piller hi lux ute ) he decided to do a u-turn from the left lane and has hit me hard ( we are all OK )
Rang the cops, told them exactly what I wrote there ^^^. He said that his story goes different, and that I was doing a burnout around the corner, and he heard skids coming from way back behind him and then I hit him.
If I was at fault I would admit it, but thats the story, and insurance has said its HIS fault. so here are some pics of my poor car![]()
Sorry I only have a couple of pics. Wont let me upload my camera photos.
That's easily fixable.
If you were doing a skid it will be clearly obvious. Your back tyre's will be shredded and there will be a skid marks, which look totally different to lock up marks.
So, if you're telling the truth you've nothing to worry about.
So the Hilux decided to do a u-turn at 50 kph? Hmmm.... At least you have witnesses.
That wasn't done at 50km/h :P
I didnt spend that grand yet !!! thank ####. Having a look at the chassis rail, its taken a big hit. I think I can see a ripple in it and a slight bend. So I think its ####ed![]()
Its insured for $15,000. So I will be buying it back ( if it is stuffed ) and scrapping it then buying a either a blue or impulsive blue sv6 as I want the blue on the car and I wanted a 5 speed.
On the up side too, I got an apprenticeship today !!! yay... haha.
They have ripples and bend outwards as standard. So unless its pushed in it should be fine.
I got hit on the front drivers corner at 60kmh in a VY and it was all cosmetic...
They will be able to tell from the scratches and paint work on both cars who was at fault so dont panic.
I told the story to the insurance, they said straight out it's hit fault because he didn't shoulder check while I was in his blind spot.
Hopefully find out tomorrow what the real damage is.. Sway bar has taken a big hit by the looks of it. ( will rescale the photo and post it up. )
The metal plate should be nice and firm up against that rubber. ( cost me a #### load to have them fitted. ) now something has bent it out of place. passenger Door doesn't open or close properly either.
Yes, I'm leaking coolant I put in 3 weeks ago that took me 3 days to bleedSo the radiator is stuffed too...
Mind my swearing too. It's just a habit while typing. ( but we are all old enough anyways :P )
Best bit of advice i can give u is, make sure you write a list down of everything you can see wrong with it and parts that need to be fixed/replaced. Sometimes crash repairers miss things. :-/
Tell them that you want it fixed to a show room standard and to allow extra in the quote for this.
That you want nothing but Genuine Parts.
Since there company will be covering the damage, you have no option but to use who they say, but go get two other quotes from who you want. Ask them for a copy of there quote from who they want you to use and go threw it and compair it to your quotes and if you are not happy with there people go back and tell them you are not happy. They will try and screw u over all the time.
its not that uncommon to see a car in the left hand lane decide to do a u turn across the right lane to go the other way. i have been a victim except he was in a truck in the wet
Thats going to take a lot of buffing out...
I'm glad none of my cars have never been in a accident, I have never insured any car and if my car got hit I have no idea what I would do...
Ok, Insurance just rang, Looking at about SO FAR $6,700 to fix it, That includes, Stut tower, LH gaurd, Left hand front and rear door, bonnet, Radiator, supports for the radiator, coolant reservoir, aircon condenser, small Chassis rail damage on the front, but all gaps LOOK Ok.
So unless the repair bill goes up an extra $7,000 It's NOT a write off.
The other drivers story sounds so likely. If you heard someone doing skids and hooning up beside you the first thing you would do is hang a U-Turn right in front of them
Talk about a grave dig... well done!! (hint have a look at the dates above)
Life starts at 200km/h
I thought I updated this, But I guess not lol
So we are 4 month past that, insurance is still on me about him saying its my fault, had to draw a stupid diagram so explain better what happened.
The total repair bill was $12,000 so it was damn close to being a write off. After I got the car back the tire got a massive split in it... Lucky it didn't blow out, as I drive on the highway everyday!
So onto now, There is a knock in the front end ( something is loose ).
Other than that, its a great fix, and I'm super happy to have it back.
WTF are you still dealing with insurance companies about fault ? The cops should have sorted that out ages ago. You DID make a police report right ?
Funny story with that. Right after the accident happened, I rang the cops. Of course the towies were there before them, they started going on about that its not more than 2K's damage and that if cops get involved the only thing that will happen is I'll end up with a fine for wreckless driving and failing to give way ( go figure ) and so will he.
So they said, we will talk to them and tell them they are not needed. Cops got there and took down all our details and got the story from me and him, ( to which I found out he is blaming me ) Then they left....
Insurance said that they can see how it would of happened but because the damage is on the SIDES of our cars, the cant actually tell who's at fault. So they needed me to draw a diagram just to show how it happened and what not...
I swear to god, If I have to go to court, I'm going to spit bricks!
i wouldn't be worried about court just yet, but if you are being accused of something and you think you are not at fault you need to get it sorted. Talk to the insurance to check what's going on, or go talk to those cops again - be confident as cop shops can be daunting places. The downside about getting cops involved is that they could fine you, but if its not your fault that won't happen. You can call the police assistance line annonamously and ask hypothetically who's as fault in that circumstance.
You never know, they might have already sent you a fine in the mail anyway so there's not much to loose.
