Hey i have just changed the filter on my transmission because i had noticed that it was clunking in between 1st and 2nd gear. After refilling the transmission i have noticed that in reverse it slips and grabs like its shuddering. I haven taken it for a drive yet because of this. On the dip stick level i noticed that its a bit over full, maybe 5mm over the hot line. any help would be great!
Thanks.
it's probably not overfull it's probably not filled up enough possibly........... just like changing your engine oil, it's gotta pump thru ......... before u get a real measurement. But as for a possible fix, no idea........... I get mine done thru ultratune, the transmission is the only thing I 'dont' do......... these cars are very picky on their tranny oils and level........... either under or over filling can cause any number of issues.
Only suggestion I got is to run the car thru the gears parked for like 15 minutes............. check ur level, if it's ok again. Try unplugging your battery for 30 mins to drain the power out of the TCU (transmission computer) as electrical issues also cause the transmission in these things to go a bit funny.

Are you checking the level during idle with car at operating temp and selecter in park?
I've done my filter/gasket/fluid a few times now and not had a problem. Are you sure the filter was pushed all the way up into place properly? I agree with what was said above, run the engine for a while and go through the gears, check the level while it's idling and in park. Ideally, you should check the level after a decent drive, while it's at operating temp. Bit difficult for you at the moment, but if it starts changing smoothly and you can drive it, don't forget to check while hot.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
The problem was that i used the old seal on the new filter so the gear box must have been sucking air instead of oil. My problem now is that i cant get the old seal out.
Does anybody know of a tool that you can use or of a way to go about removing it??
Thanks
